Personal Response: This might be one of my new favorite books. I really enjoyed the layout of it and the moving poetry throughout the story. I greatly enjoyed reading about the hardships that people faced, since I feel like I did not learn about a lot of these in school or they were only briefly touched on and never were gone through in depth. Personal Response: I really enjoyed reading this book because I feel like it showcases to the reader how to believe in themselves and have courage to do the things that they want to do in the world. I also like how it shows the support from the other animals and allows the reader to feel that sense of support too and know that people believe in them.

My View on the book: I honestly loved this book so much and already purchased it for my future classroom. I think that is is a book where the teacher can engage their students and ask questions like "Who else feels like this" and have them make connections to their own life and the lives of the characters in this book. Overall I think that the message is incredibly powerful and further shows how unique and special everyone is, which students will greatly benefit from hearing. 
Connections: The book makes connections through illustrations to participating in sports like jump rope and track, as well as images of characters reading, dancing, climbing, doing karate, playing outdoors, and being creative and using their imagination, which are all activities that children can relate to as well.

Personal Response: I really enjoyed reading this book and think that a lot of students will be able to relate to the characters in this book. I feel like the family aspect as well as the sibling rivalry aspect are all things that students during this part of their lives, and then coming together over a loss is something that I also feel readers will be able to relate to when they read this book.

I think that this would be a great book to have in a 2nd-5th grade class for students to read a story full of action and adventure, but also about historical events and allow for them to gain some more knowledge about history.

Personal Response: I really enjoyed re-reading this book because this used to be one of my favorite books to read as a kid, but especially for my parents to read because they would use the best voices for the characters in this book. I really enjoyed reading this classic book that a lot of students would know about.
What did I learn from this? (Lessons/values/beliefs etc.): I think the lesson in this book that it promotes people helping one another and teaches kids to not talk to strangers and to be aware of your surroundings.

The shiny fish then realizes this and decides to give some of his shiny scales away to other fish in the sea. This kind act of sharing then creates a community of rainbow fish that have some shiny scales.
Personal Response: I really enjoyed this book as a child, and it brought back many memories re-reading it for this class. I really enjoy the meaning of this book since it shows someone who has a lot of very nice things and how they were initially very greedy with their shiny scales, but then notices how sharing was turning other fish away, so the fish decided to start sharing his shiny scales. I really like the message for this story since it gives a great message to kids to share with people and become friends with many people, as well as your actions reflect who you are. I think this will be a great addition to an early elementary classroom bookshelf.

Personal Response: I really enjoyed reading this book because it was a great sequel to the five monkeys jumping on the bed book that I grew up reading. I really liked the repetition of the story of "Shhhh don't wake up mama". I also really think that this would be a great story to read to students and have them come up with heir own recipe of how to bake a cake in the class and see all the different ways that younger students think you need to do to bake a cake.

Summary: This book follows Jim Panzee who just wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and can not shake this feeling of being grumpy. He meets some of his friends and they ask him what is wrong and he is just grumpy. Eventually he is able to not be grumpy anymore with the help of his friends and is able to have a better day the next day. 
Personal Response: I read this book to my moms classroom and they really liked it since sometimes it is hard to pinpoint why exactly you are grumpy and some days you will have a day that is not great, and that is ok. His dad had a recipe of how to make this enemy pie that had a secret recipe and how it is the fastest way to get rid of enemies. The boy then makes this pie and is able to deliver it to his enemy and they are able to become friends.
Personal Response: I really like this book to read to younger students on how to be kind to people and how they can befriend people that they have as "enemies" and how they can become friends and learn to get along with each other.
