The Germans had occupied her town and had taken things from her and her family. Maria was already very poor yet she still helped people who were struggling on the streets of Janowiec. One day, Marias’ best friend was deported and Maria wanted to do something to help, but she was just a kid and she couldn’t do anything. One day Marias’ father had asked her to come to the backroom. In the future, Maria married Moses, and the two moved to the United States and opened up a cigar store. Later Maria and Moses had two children.
