experiences that i share with this charterer is she had siblings and grew up poor
my parents relate to them since they immigrated from a different country but they were loving parents to e and my siblings not like in the book.

that they are strict at their religion and how they eat specific meals everyday.

In the book The color of water the authors mom faces racism since she is a white person living in the projects of new York. during the time of this book the civil rights moment is happening and the increase of white hate is increasing . since the mom is white in a black neighborhood she faces some racism. Throughout the book the mom is criticize for have a black child.

readers from the early to mid 1900 hundreds might not find that racism going on in this book as something bad since that is how they grew up, but people now would be mad that racism was normalize back then.
1. This book was originally meant for people who faced racism and people figuring out who they are. I don't relate to any of these problems since i have never faced racism or finding out who i am in my life.
  1. no some things i think are wrong in this book is the racism an example is how they would raise the price on everything up in order to over charge black people.

Capitalism affects the characters in this book since they financially struggle with affording housing and everyday necessities. They decided to sell their house in new York and move to Delaware since they couldn't afford it. They struggled with affording a good education so they had to travel miles in order to obtain a better education.

"yeah man i hear you" James visits his old mentor in order to comfort her at her husbands funeral when his colleagues make a rude comment and he agrees with them .This quote stands out to me because she helped him during school and she payed for him to go to Europe and perform. He still agrees knowing that she has done so much to help him out.

I relate to his family being having trouble with housing in my early years. i never lost somebody close to me but i know people who have lost loved ones.

one social issue that James and his siblings faced was education, they didn't have good education where they lived.The schools next to them were segregated and the all black public schools were under funded and didn't have good materials.He and his siblings had to travel miles to all white Jewish schools in order to have a good education and a good shot at college

James mother faces racism while she is living in new York with his father. Her relationship with his father is not accepted since they are both different races. she is harassed and assaulted because of this to the point of death threats.

i really liked this chapter since we get to know much more about what happend to his mothers family. i also liked how he tried to learn more about himself and who he was.

i believe that people share their stories in order to see if other people have been through the same thing. James McBride shared hi story about him talking about his racial background. he inspired many others to embrace their background and to share their story's.
