Description:
The objective of the activity is working on the characteristics of a cell: definition, functions, classification of organisms depending on their number of cells and cells classification.

In the laboratory we have prepared samples of different cells (animal and plant cells). We have observed them under the microscope and talked about the differences we see. 

We have also watched informative videos about the characteristics of the cell, its functions and classification.

To finish we asked the students to fill the Concept map in order to put the ideas in order.

Why is this visual organiser helpful? 
After preparing the cell samples in the laboratory, we needed to provide students some visual support of all the information we have worked on. So we needed a visual organiser to present all the information we have learned.

Justification: It is a visual brainstorming activity that helps students remember the content explained, either as a summary at the end of the class or as a review the day after.

Description: at the end of the year, students become inventors. The main goal is to try to use the theory they have learned to create something useful for themselves. They work in groups of 3 or 4 students in which at the beginning, each one of them has to think about their own creation and do their design. They expose their idea to the rest of the group and then all of them decide which they will do. The invention has to be built in class with recycled materials and to do so, they are given 6 sessions. In order to organize their time correctly, they are given the following template for them to complete (the first two columns) before starting to construct. In the “expected” column, each of the students have to write down what they are in charge of doing that day. At the end of each session, they have to complete the third column (done) with the information of what they have finally done during the first session.
Justification: These type of visual organisers helps them focus on what they have to do in each session and also realize if they are working on the project as planned.
