I've learned how to be organized and split jobs amongst the group and work as a team. This group has also made me more aware about the service learning activity. I liked how we had a "mission" to collect a certain amount of money by organizing bake sales or pizza sales. I learned that there are many people in Vietnam and in the World without a roof above their heads.

I will raise more awareness and be cautious about our environment and surroundings.

Throughout the semester, I've learnt more about the problems that people are facing around the world such as poverty, lack of shelters, inflation, etc. Not only that, I also got to brainstorm about ways to solve those problems and be more considerate to people that are less fortunate. Additionally, me along with the group experienced lots of planning/organizing events for the bakes sales, pizza sales and sausage sizzle. In the future, I will try to participate more on the group activities as well as be more responsible and finish the task given on time.

There are a lot of possibilities and combined the reasons together and we ended up with one reason.

I learned that there are many possibilities to why people don't have homes and the different ways on how we can help them. I also learned that there's so many ways of helping people even if it's in a small way. I also learned that i am capable of coming up with different ideas to help and join the cause. I also learned that there's a lot of responsibilities on how we keep money and use it wisely.

I think that i would raise more awareness about this topic and see if i can do more to help not only build a home but to also help with supplies needed in the house.

What did you experience?

This year I experienced a lot of things, but most of the
things were already experienced in the past in terms of sales and etc… I’ve
already experienced selling things from my middle school CAS, so transitioning
to this cas was not hard at all. What I did experience was more bonding between
the members of our group, seeing that we meet every Thursday, and almost always
starting with opening circle.

What did you learn about the community and about yourselves?

I learnt about how HFH actually contributed towards the
Service Learning, and the opening circle questions actually made me think more
of some of my likes and dislikes. I also learnt things about others that I had
not known before.

What changes will you make because of what you learned and
experienced?

Marketing products are indeed hard, but through this expreince,
I will be able to market better, and work collaboratively as a group better.

Somethings that went well on the Spring fair is that we had two different stations: the cans game and the bake sale. I thought it was good because we attracted different audiences, and therefore we received more money. The can game attracted many children as well as adults. This is a good strategy for next year, to have two different stations.

Something that did not go well was the aesthetics of the booth. We did not have many posters or banners. I saw many other booths that had nice decorations and they attracted more customers just by the booth's appeal.

Next time, we could play the music louder because that attracts the audience. We also should decorate our booth more and display the game more so more people can see it. We could also hang up posters to promote HFH and tell people to come to our booth.

What went well was the game and having two different sides at the booth. A game on one side and a bake sale on the other side. It made it seem like there were a few options to our booth instead of making it look boring. Also what went well was choosing a game that people would be interested in which made it easier to raise money. Also it was good to be creative with the 'foam launcher' because kids liked using the foam launcher rather than using a ball.

Something that didn't go so well and something that we could have done better was making the game a bit more obvious and making the booth a bit more appealing to other people. Also having a variety of other things could have been better and having two games running would have been nice. Also if the game was a bit more creative, people would have liked it more.

Somethings that I felt went well at the spring fair was that we had a game that targeted little kids. I think that we brought in a lot of money because kids just wanted to win a lollipop. I also think that the fact that we had a place where you could buy food was good also because then adults could buy things as well.

Something that we could have improved on was having people turn up in time. In the beginning we opened late and missed some opportunity's to make money. Also we decided that the cans were too light so we filled them with sand which didn't work out so well so we had to empty them out. Other than that I think that it went really well.

The spring fair definitely went well because a lot of people participated and the game we thought of was appropriate for people of all ages, which made it a lot popular. We had enough food to sell (we actually had a lot of leftovers in the end) during the Spring Fair since almost everyone in the CAS group participated in bringing food on time. They were also pretty good quality, which let the sales active.

However, we could have prepared it better with more equipment, such as napkins and plates. It was hard to serve goods like cake and brownies without having these basic things like forks and plates. The customers looked sort of disappointed at it as it was very hard to eat. Next time, we should plan the equipments needed more carefully, not only the types of things to sell.
