The exemplification of the idea that war is traitorous and blood - thirsty is presented in The Charge Of The Light Brigade. Tennyson highlighted this in his use of the technique of repetition in the quote: "Into the valley of Death". This implies that, back in pre - 1914 the word: "Death" was a huge word because many soldiers were wounded or had died. The noun "Death" from this evidence (which is capitalised) tell us that they have a fear of death. In addition to this, the word "jaws" suggests that men on the frontline are dying and they are entering somewhere where people don't feel safe about. Thus, as a modern reader, we can learn that pre - 1914 was brutal because many people had lost their lives. Also, it tells us facts that historians and people haven't learnt about that specific time.

The presentation of the idea that Tennyson describes death is inescapable and the soldiers are surrounded by death is presented throughout the poem: Charge of the Light Brigade. In the poem, he says "Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of death, Into the mouth of Hell." The poet highlights this in his use of the technique of a personification in a way that shows death is upon them. This implies that "Into the jaws of death, Into the mouth of Hell." tells us that they have entered a place where there is no escape to survival. The noun 'jaws' from the evidence clearly tells us that it refers to a shark and is frightening the soldiers. In addition, the word 'mouth' suggests that the soldiers have entered the mouth that would swallow them to death. Thus, as a modern reader, we can learn that the Crimean War has its own world and there is no going back.

The exemplification of the idea that many soldiers had to sacrifice their life for the war due to the fact that they stayed loyal and devoted towards Lord Cardigan's orders is presented in this part of the stanza. The poet highlights this in his use of in this part of the stanza "stormed at with shot and shell, while horse and hero fell. They that had fought so well. This phrase fills the audience with different emotions because of the feeling that is represented. This suggests that the audience has empathy for the soldiers' attitude towards war in 1854. The noun 'hero' from this evidence clearly also tells us that the soldiers fought courageously and died with pride in their hearts. It could also be proposed that the technique used in this part of the stanza is rhyme and rhythm. The rhyme and rhythm emphasises the soldiers' obedience and sense of duty towards battle. Furthermore, the rhyme and rhythm also sounds like the horses' hooves since the rhythm is rather fast paced. This gives the impression that the horses are unstoppable alongside with the soldiers.

The exemplification of the idea that soldiers defended the country although they knew the fact that death is inescapable and shows that the soldiers did an act of heroism in the Charge of the Light Brigade. The poet highlights this in his use of emotive language in 'Noble six hundred' this suggests that Tennyson believed that the soldiers deserve respect and honour, the adjective 'Noble' from this evidence clearly has conations of someone who is worthy and honourable. In addition the word 'six hundred' shows that Tennyson tells us that six hundred men were in the war charging towards Russia towards their death. Further more the quote 'into the valley of death rode the six hundred' also show the sign of heroism in the metaphor ' Valley of death' shows that they were entering their deaths with the knowledge that they will die and meet their fate. Thus as a modern reader we can understand that the Crimean war was not just a war it was a time where soldiers acted like heroes and fought for there country and shows the sign of heroism.

In this poem, Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson believes that war was very accelerated. The poet highlights this in the use of repetition of the word canon to present the fast pace of the war. It also emphasises the sound of canons and guns. In addition, the phrase that follows the word canon supports the fact that war was fast paced by using monosyllabic words to reflect the barrage of guns and bombardment. Furthermore, it can also be proposed that the war was unstoppable, from the quote "Half a league, Half a league, Half a league onward". The use of the rhythm creates an atmosphere of horses galloping.

The illustration of the idea that war was formidable and petrifying, is presented in The Charge Of The Light Brigade. The poet expresses this in his use of technique of repetition and rhyme in the third and fifth stanza : "cannon to the right of them, cannon to the left of them, cannon in front of them" the author does this to prolong certain details to create suspense and tension. The noun "cannon" from this evidence distinctly presents to us the rhythm of war and how chaotic and disastrous it really was. Furthermore, it could also proposed that the words "left of them....right of them...in front of them" indicates how tumultuous and disorderly war was. Thus, as a modern reader we can learn that war in the perspective of Tennyson In The Charge Of The Light Brigade was indeed terrifying and is something we would hope to not repeat in modern history.

The exemplification of the idea that Tennyson believes that war is abrupt and treacherous is shown in 'The Charge of the Light Brigade'. Tennyson highlights this in his use of the technique, repetition. It is shown in the quote
"Cannon to the right of them, cannon to the left of them". This implies that the soldiers involved in the battle were surrounded by powerful weapons. The noun 'cannon' from this evidence clearly shows us that Tennyson believes that war is brisk and explosive. You can tell this by the use of short, snappy monosyllabic words. It could also be proposed that the quote builds suspense and drama with it's rhythm. Thus as a modern reader, we can learn how poets present their ideas about war, furthermore, this can help us present our own ideas and learn how war has changed overtime.

The poet highlights this in his use of technique of repetition of Cannon in the quote "Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in the front of them," this suggests that the Russian have surrounded them with artillery from front to back right to left. This may also imply that death is inescapable and is determined. The noun cannon from this evidence clearly also tells us that weapons during the crimean war was very different from modern day weapons.

The exemplification of the idea that war is inescapable and that the soldiers are surrounded by death is presented throughout the Charge of the Light Brigade. The poet highlights this in his use of repetition. He repeats the noun 'cannon' which is a short syllable which sounds explosive. This suggests that they were surrounded by powerful weapons compared to their feeble swords. Tennyson uses rhyme and repetition throughout the poem, to emphasis the obedience and bravery of the soldiers. In addition the phrases "Not to make reply,
not to reason why,
but to do and die." This further implies that the soldiers can't do anything but to follow their leader into the valley of death. As a modern reader we can deduce that soldiers during the Battle of Balaclava were

chivalrous but naive.
