The Priest’s Vestments
The Priest normally wears the color white, which is associated with resurrection and is also used at Easter, weddings, baptisms and other holy joyous events.

Music
The hymns and songs express the belief that death is a passage to eternal union with God. The music reflects the theme of joy.
Symbols
A symbol of Christian life, such as a bible, a book of the gospels, or a cross may be placed on the coffin as a sign that the Christian is marked, in Baptism, and through Jesus’ victory over death is brought to eternal life.
http://www.delawarestmary.org/funeral-ceremonies-and-symbols/

The prayer "Dies Iræ, recited or sung between the Tract and the Gospel, is an obligatory part of the Requiem Mass in the earlier forms." The opening words, Dies irae (Day of wrath), indicate, it then appeals to Jesus for mercy.
Prayers off the faithful are often read with the family members being given the opportunity to speak them. They read from the Old Testament.
Another typical rite found here and at other points in Catholic funerals is the “Eternal Rest” prayer. “Grant unto the departed eternal rest, and let light perpetual shine upon them.” They will also recite this prayer later on All Souls Day as they remember the deceased.
They will recite the rosary, “Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you…,”once for each decade of the departed individual’s life. This will be done by a priest in most circumstances, however if there is not one around, they recite it themselves.
http://www.funeralspot.com/Catholic-Funerals-information.php

Catholic funerals have followed a pattern throughout the service of shifting from death to life. The congregation during this time, will come past some of their sorrow over their loss to see that their loved one is not really gone, but will live for all eternity with Jesus Christ. They emphasis resurrection from death to life, which Catholics believe will happen for every committed believer.

Catholic funerals typically involve 3 stages, the vigil, the requiem mass, and the burial and informal after burial gatherings. Since Catholics believe that it is a sin to presume that a loved one has gone to heaven, the card written for them will often express their earnest hope that they have.
http://www.funeralspot.com/Catholic-Funerals-information.php
