In this section Crevecoeur writes, "Republics, kingdoms, monarchies, founded either on fraud or successful violence, increase by pursuing the steps of the same policy, until they are destroyed in their turn, either by the influence of their own crimes, or by a more successful but equally criminal enemies." this passage expresses Crevecoeur's disdain for the manner in which America was founded (hence part of the reason this is not taught in school), as he insinuates that America, and any civilization born from a violent revolution, is doomed to fail, felled by their own hand, or by the hand of another, equally criminal enemy, as Crevecoeur seems to restate the belief that, 'violence only begets violence' . Following his thoughts on the ultimate fate of such civilizations, Crevecoeur also ponders evil, in relation to humanity and civilization as he writes, "Where do you concieve then that nature intended we should be happy? Would you prefer the state of men in the woods, to that of men in a more improve situation? Evil preponderates both; in the first they often eat each other for want of food, and in the other they often starve each other for want of room. For my part, I think the vices and miseries to be found in the latter, exceed those of the former; in which real evil is more scarce, more supportable, and less enormous." from this passage we gleam Crevecoeur's opinion on civilization as a whole, as he affirms that civilization itself oft encounters greater evil than 'men who live in the woods', causing more suffering overall to those who partake in the civilizations. Paragraph 9: John writes about how man thinks that they are perfect and blame higher beings for bad things happening in the world that they caused instead of admitting their mistakes. 

Paragraph 10: john writes that new climates can bring new challenges. Each climate has different types of plants. He refers to these plants as people, on how there new struggles such as famine when they enter new countries. Such as when people got to the new world they struggled with the new climate and needed to make adjustments to overcome these differences.

Following his preface, Crevecoeur recounts something he experienced as he was walking to a plantation he was invited to dine at. Taking a sheltered path through a forest, Crevecoeur encountered a badly beaten slave, who had been placed in a suspended cage. The slave was in a dire state, having hollow sockets where eyes should have rested, and mangled flesh that the insects that covered him yearned to feed on; however despite his lack of vision, the slave could still hear, and upon hearing Crevecoeur's approach, he begged him for water to quench his thirst, a request which Crevecoeur did fulfill. Unable to aid the slave any further, Crevecoeur continued his journey, the injured state of the slave impacting him profoundly. I'm taking this interpretation as a form of Karma because in my paragraphs we read how it made the guy sick thinking about how the slaves in the southern are treated so I believe that the difficulty in climates and plants might be an affect of how the southern slaves were treated in the past.

Looking into paragraph one it states how the differences between the northern and southern colonies relates to my groups paragraphs on how in the southern the slaves were treated very poorly where as in the north the slaves were treated in a better respectable way/manner.

In the paragraphs I read, 5-7, Crevecoeur explains that he wants all people to become equal and get along with each other to create more peace.

Paragraphs 11-13 relate to paragraphs 5-7 because they both talk about how Crevecoeur does not like the hardcore slavery and how they are treated so poorly.
