King Tut died at age 18 or 19 around 1323 B.C, but there are many theories surrounding how he died. There is a small bone fragment on the inside of his skull that intially led some historians to believe that King Tut was murdered by a blow to the back of his head.

A major new exhibition, “King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh”, tours several major cities around the world.

Tutankhamun married Ankhesenaten, one of the daughters of his father Akhenaten and his stepmother Queen Nefertiti, so she was his half-sister! She was a little older than Tutankhamun himself. Later, Ankhesenaten changed her name to Ankhesenamun, "She lives (ankhes) for (en) the god Amun (amun)".

Tutankhamun is buried in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

The tomb of Tutankhamun lies near the central path through the valley, at centre right. The pharaoh Tutankhamun ruled during the Eighteenth Dynasty, during the New Kingdom. He died c. 1323 BC and was entombed in the Valley of the Kings, near Thebes (modern Luxor), like most New Kingdom rulers.

X-rays suggest that Tutankhamun died from an infection following a broken leg.

Scientists have finally discovered how King Tutankhamun died, nearly a century after the boy-pharaoh's tomb was unearthed in Egypt.

A DNA study revealed today the 19-year-old died from complications from a broken leg that was exacerbated by malaria.

It also found the famous king suffered from a cleft palate and club foot and was a 'frail king who needed canes to walk.'

Lord Carnarvon, Howard Carter's financier, cut open a mosquito bite on his cheek while shaving. The bite became infected and he contracted blood poisoning, dying not even two months after the burial chamber was open. If this was the supposed curse, it probably could have been cured by antibiotics.

DNA tests and further CT scans suggest that Tutankhamun might have died from complications related to malaria and a broken leg.

The scan also uncovered his broken leg, which may have finally killed him if the injury became aggravated by severe brain malaria. "A sudden leg fracture possibly introduced by a fall might have resulted in a life threatening condition when a malaria infection occurred," the study found.
