So far in the book, the city of Ember is an underground city that only uses lights. The characters Lina and Doon are both getting out of school and are getting their jobs. Doon got the job of messenger. Lina got the job of pipework laborer. They both didn't like their jobs so they switched after the day was over.

So far I do like this book. I like the concept and where the story takes place. I'm not really to far in to give a full review. I think that Doon trying to do something to help out the city was a pretty cool idea. I also liked that Lina and Doon switched jobs and no one really cares.
In a way it reminds me of the Giver. At the end of school you are given a job. However you puck your job out of a bag with jobs written on a piece of paper. The book is good and I can't wait to keep reading it.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a cool book and a short read. It is a pretty short book and an advanced reader will definitely be able to finish this is a day or two. Some people might want to read it because it is a cool book and the world that it takes place in is interesting..
