My overarching understanding is that the application of UDL is a framework for designing curriculum and learning environments to reach all learners.

This concept began with the discipline of architecture was broadened in the fields of hardware and software development, and as we speak is an key principle in instructional design. Automatic doors, curb cuts are some popular conveniences that illustrate the concept of Universal Design. Students with disabilities have certain disadvantages, the UDL curriculum gives all individuals equal opportunities to learn. The one size fits all method is completely outdated. Students in the twenty first century have various disabilities such as autism, speech impediments, behavior issues and simply underachievers who are not interested in the learning environment. These flexible approaches can be customized and adjusted for individual needs based on three primary brain networks.

The recognition network or the "what of learning" is the activation of the part of the brain that facilitates how we gather facts and how we categorize what we see, hear and read. This area of universal design offers multiple means of representation.

In the UDL curriculum should we present information and content in different ways?

Strategic networks is the "how of learning" the planning and performing tasks. The ability to organize tasks and express our ideas. This network provides more ways to provide multiple means of action and expression. I would try to differentiate the ways that students can express what they know.

Affective Networks is the "Why" of learning this design is concerned about how learners get engaged and stay motivated. How would you stimulate interest and motivation for learning.?

UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals , methods and materials that work for everyone.

What are the UDL Guidelines?
