         <description><![CDATA[<p>Classroom management issues:</p><ol><li><p>With-it ness vs Overlapping: Only realised 2 students sleeping 20 minutes into the lesson (seems like she only takes note of certain students, but does not put sleeping students in the priority)</p></li><li><p>Boredom: Many students exhibiting signs of boredom like doodling, dozing off, zoning away</p></li></ol><p><br/></p><p>Proactive intervention skills:</p><ul><li><p>Lesson plan should involve activities that are interactive, requires group discussions or movement around the class to break the monotony (+she already knows it is late Friday afternoon class)</p></li><li><p>If everyone is visibly distracted, can do an activity e.g. stand up and stretch</p></li><li><p>Non-verbal cues: Mrs Ong can make use of a certain routine to attract attention, e.g. raising her hands, or if last resort, to use e.g. a bell. Can consider suddenly pausing to let students take notice.</p></li><li><p>Addressing class with calm and firm voice e.g. "I can see that not everyone is on the task. Let's make sure that we are all focused, so that we can finish on time and cover the key points."</p></li><li><p>Reinforce positive behaviour who are on-task to encourage others</p></li></ul>]]></description>

Never condition it is the last two period.</p><p>2) Ignorance of misbehavior leading to a ripple effect of misbehavior.</p><p>3) No establishment and reinforcement of classroom routines and expectations.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Proactive intervention skills</strong></p><p>1) Removing distracting objects from students (Lai Peng was looking at something under her desk)</p><p>2) Reinforcement of rules and routines once you catch a misbehavior.</p><p>3) Increase learner engagement by switching activity like games, videos etc (Sharon staring blindly at slides).</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Examples</strong></p><p>1) Stand up to stretch.</p><p>2) Crack a joke.</p><p>3) Do a dance if caught sleeping.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Management issues: </p><ul><li><p>tired students, end of the week class </p></li><li><p>inattentive </p></li><li><p>boredom </p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>Intervention +rationale : </p><ul><li><p>less frontal teaching, more group discussion </p><ul><li><p>change the pace of lesson, gives the students a change in pace, hence getting their energy levels back up and engaged </p></li></ul></li><li><p>active participation using Classpoint </p><ul><li><p>getting the students to be actively participating in class rather than just listening to her lecturing at the front of the class since it is the last class of the week </p></li></ul></li><li><p>use more than just images, add videos and other sources of aids (gameplay, simulation, animation, etc) </p><ul><li><p>more dynamic visual aids and interactions for the students, less static </p></li></ul></li><li><p>sudden changes in tone and volume when teaching </p><ul><li><p>get their attention through the element of surprise </p></li></ul></li><li><p>change of classroom environment by manipulating it to set the tone </p><ul><li><p>e.g. since she is teaching on River Civilisation, maybe can use a background projected on the screen to simulate the environment so students are humoured and will be engaged</p></li></ul></li><li><p>getting them to stretch and do some static exercise for 2 minutes as a class to get everyone's heart rates back up and moving for a while  </p></li></ul>]]></description>
