I agree with Karl Marx with his opinion on capitalism because those who are doing the physical work are being treated unequally. Without these workers there would be no goods or services, there would be no money at all to be making profit. So, why should the laborers be getting paid less, it’s only fair to be getting paid equally. Karl Marx argued that capitalism was an essential phase for humanity, however leads to unequal wealth, this is true because innovation needs capital and money. Without capitalism, yes, we would not have as many innovations as we do today, but why does that matter if not everyone is positively impacted by them. In today’s society we see many countries that are capitalist, take Bangladesh for example this is a capitalist country with a population of 162 million people, and about 38 million are living in poverty. Marx had a completely different political philosophy compared to Plato. Plato believed the ideal state has a division of labor, people are separated into classes, and there is only one superior ruler. While Marx’s ideal state was no division of labor and social classes, and will be ruled by the masses.

I agree with Karl Marx on capitalism. The workers are treated unequally, when they contribute a lot to the production. They provide the labour so they should be on the same level as the employer but instead they are below the employer. Marx’s argument on profit making supports my opinion on how workers are treated unequally. The employer earns profit by selling more products. For example, the worker gets a pay of $6/hour. The product they make is sold for $13. The employer gives the worker the $6 for that hour and keeps the rest of the money. If the worker produces 10 products for an hour. The worker receive $6 while the employer gets the profit $7 and the other products 9*$13=$117, a total of $124 profit. This is not equal compared to the workers $6 payment. In today’s society we see the critique of division of labour. In a company the labour has been divided into office work and within the office there are many branches and there is the factory to produce the product and within the factory there are different assembly lines. Marx’s political philosophy contrasts with Plato’s political theory. Marx believed freedom of workers would create a better society whereas Plato believed too much freedom would cause conflict in the society.

I agree with Karl Marx on his opinion on capitalism. The workers, who create the products, are being treated with no fairness even though they are the ones who make all of this possible. Although, without capitalism, we would not have the new products we have today. However, who would want to live in a society with new products but are treated lower than everyone else? No one. This sets the stage for the pros and cons of capitalism. The workers should be held at the same level as the employer, not any less. An example given was, if a capitalist makes workers work more hours than are needed to create the worker’s labor power. If the capitalists pays each worker $5 per day, he can require workers to work, say, twelve hours per day -- a not uncommon workday during Marx’s time. Hence, if one labor hour equals one dollar, the workers produce twelve dollars’ worth of products for the capitalist but are only paid five. The bottom line: capitalists extract “surplus value” from the workers and enjoy monetary profits. The apple factory for example, in china, the workers get paid $3.15 an hour to make IPhones, but as we all know, IPhones sell for up to $1500 in the market, the workers make about 350 IPhones every minute

I agree with Karl Marx on capitalism. The workers who contribute a lot of work in production do not gain equal treatment. The workers are being treated below the employers which is not fair, as they provide society with goods and services. The argument that Marx presents to support my opinion on how workers are being treated unfairly is from the topic of profits. For example, if a worker gets paid $5/hour for 12 hours/day for a product that is sold for $15, the employers will give the workers the $5/hour while keeping the rest of the money they were supposed to earn. If the workers receive $5 for the hour they work, the employers will earn a profit of $10 which is not equal to the workers’ payment as they gain more than they should not. In today’s society, Marx’s critiques of capitalism can be seen from the multiple countries who suffer from living in poverty. Workers in Japan for example, work in factories producing goods like clothing but get paid as little as 5 cents/hour. Marx’s political philosophy can be contrasted to Plato’s theory. Marx believed that freedom for workers creates a better society while Plato believed that conflict in society is created by too much freedom.

Yes, I agree with Karl Marx and his opinion that he has on capitalism. I strongly agree with Marx when he speaks about the workers working and not receiving equal “treatment” for the work that they put in as mentioned when he stated that the capitalists take advantage of the labour-power of the workers in order to make more money. An example of his critique on capitalism is in countries that have workers that only get paid $1 a day or maybe even less. The countries I am talking about are countries that have poor people that depend on work. In these countries, top brands take advantage and capitalize on the people’s need for money and make them work unreasonable hours with unreasonable pay to where they can sell the finished product for 10x the amount the workers were paid to make it. Not only do the workers not get paid a fair amount for their work, but they also are forced to work under terrible circumstances and in unsafe environments. Marx’s theory and Plato’s theory kind of contradict each other because whilst Plato believes that freedom in society causes a lot of conflicts, Marx believes that it could create a better society from the one we live in now.

I agree with Karl Marx on this point of view of capitalism. Those who contribute a lot of time, effort, and work in production are treated unequally. These workers provide the essential goods and services to the society and so they deserve to be on the same level as the employer, but instead they are below the employer which is unfair. Marx talks about these hardworking workers who do not receive the same treatment as the employers. Capitalists take dominance over the workers and make them work more hours, paying them less money in order to make 10X the money when selling their products. Poor people who reside in a country that are trying to keep their houses running earn $1 or less per day. For example, workers who work in a branded shoe factory in China only get paid $1.52 per hour and we all know those shoes are sold on a much higher price. Marx’s political philosophy contrasts with Platos. Plato’s point of view on political philosophy was that by having too much freedom would create conflicts in society. Whereas, Plato believed that society is only created when there is freedom.

I agree with Karl Marx on his opinion on capitalism. The workers do not receive equal pay and do the laboured work. Most workers are not paid nearly as much as they should be. Marx's argument on profit supports my opinion on how workers are treated unequally. profit is derived not by selling commodities above their value, in which case capitalists could raise prices at whim, but that commodities sold at or near their natural value produce profit because workers are only paid for that portion of their work. an example of how this is being used today is through many of the brands people wear today. many of the items are worth $5 and are sold for over $700 and they pay the workers $1-$2 an hour. This way the employers are profiting way more then the employee without doing any work.

I agree with Karl Marx’s idea of capitalism which was that capitalism only creates wealth for the bourgeoise but not for the proletariats. His opinion of capitalism was that the people that did the labor work were treated unequally. To support my opinion, Karl Marx explains how there would be no profit to gain without these workers as they are the ones producing these products and goods in the first place. For instance, a factory worker in a third world country like India, may get paid two rupees to produce a yard of cloth and the capitalist will sell the cloth for more, like ten rupees. In this way, the capitalist, who controls the process of production, makes a profit, however, the worker does not benefit from this added value in any way, and fails to benefit from his or her own hard work and labour. Like it said in the reading, capitalists extract “surplus value” from the workers and enjoy monetary profits. Karl Marx’s theory of capitalism would contrast with Plato’s theory of freedom. Karl Marx’s goal was for freedom to be attained in order for society to be better. While, Plato believed that too much freedom would result in conflicts in society.

The reason why I disagree with Karl Marx’s critique of capitalism is it's not convincing. Far from being exploitative, the free market capitalist system is composed of enterprises in which workers, managers and owners have established healthy relationship. Marx concern was mainly about the well-being of the workers. The workers are the people that employ their labour in the process of production. This process would not be possible without property and without capital. Let us consider a factory. The input of the workers through manual labour is a vital part of production. But without available land, the factory wouldn’t have been built and without capital sponsorship on machines and tools, the workers wouldn’t be able to produce anything. For this reason, property and equipment provided by the owners are very valuable to the workers. Thus, they pay for the opportunity to produce with a surplus of their labour. Indeed, the management and the owners of the company enable the workers to produce and therefore earn their money. Free market capitalist enterprises are actually beneficial to individual because it provides that income which is needed for worker financial stability. The economy needs worker for it to function correctly and without workers society could potentially fall into chaos.
