Coraline has short navy blue colored hair along with brown eyes. Alice is the epitome of a dumb blonde with light blonde hair and blue eyes. The cinematography style for Alice in Wonderland seems to be rather old fashioned mainly because it was made decades ago. On the other hand Coraline is made with a newer animation style decorated for a younger audience. Both of these two travel into their alternative realities due to boredom, and they do so through entering a time altering passage way. For Alice, this is the tree stump, whereas for Coraline this takes form as the door. Both of these two are also mesmerized by the sights they witness, such as talking animals in both occasions, inhuman characters, and the way their treated. Not only does this spur their excitement, but it urges them further to explore and never come home. I relate to this so heavily because as a kid I was always very creative, and quick to act on my thoughts. Though there is some relation to Alice, I for one am not as dull-witted as her. I believe that sometimes I dissapear into my own imaginary world, I'm more like Coraline as well because I always wander around aimlessly looking for something fun to do. Both characters desire the call to adventure and an escape from the reality that had plagued them with boredom for a long while. The imagery of both films provides insight into each character's imagination as they proceed into the adventurous world. As the films go on, we, the viewers, start to notice the difference between both worlds. Technology has made huge advancements, including in arts and animations. This means that the animation seen in Coraline is a lot smoother, along with the sound recordings and voices used. The animation used in Alice in Wonderland helps the movie give off a really dreamy imaginative world feel to it, while the style of art and animation used in Coraline can almost be unsettling at times, with weird and deformed characters showing with great details (Mr. Bobinsky, for example). The magical world in Coraline gives off a more dangerous undertone and is both unsettling and magical at the same time. In the beginning of the story, she looks for a better family in 'the other world' because she is deprived of her parents' attentions due to their busy work habits, and I believe that I have come to the point in life where I have also learned to be independent. The call to adventure is always the entertaining way to enjoy life while you can, without all the stress and burdens. I tend to visualize and act on my imagination more than I would ever do as an adult now.
