Tyler B https://padlet.com/emily_finley1/xdjzvajaacr/wish/235929621 Question 1: The weather in this chapter is reflective on the mood going on here because, Sundara learned that Chameroun is dead the fact that the weather is gloomy contributes to the dismal feeling of the chapter.

Question 2: "life is like a road/river" this is an example of a simile. htey are similar because a road and a river both have turns, rough spots, ect. However, they are different because a road you can mostly control where the vehicle is going but when your in a river you mostly go with the flow/current.
It just means that life has up's down's turn's and rough spots, but you will get to your destination. Just keep swimming

Question 3: "Jonotan, i start to cry, and maybe never stop." is an example of a hyperbole, it makes the whole thing feel stronger, if you just said " i start to cry" it doesn't make the reader feel as moved or sympathetic.

2. It's a simile. I think they are both right because sometimes life is all planed out you know exactly what you're doing. Other times you're just going with the flow have no idea what is happening or weather it is good or bad.



3.It's a hyperbole. If Sundara wouldn't have put forever we wouldn't have been as sympathetic to how she felt. I also think that if she would have said an hour Jonatan wouldn't have felt as bad because he knew she could get over it.

It would be very wierd or just an odd choice if the author said it was a beautiful day and really sunny out, and then Sundara gets a letter that her love died! That would not be very nice.

Sundara is using an exaggeration because obviously you can't cry forever. It makes the statement a lot more emotional or inspiring. life is like a road means that life is a bumpy road and there are ups, downs, twist and turns but it goes on and it will get better. life is like a river means that it can be calm and easy going at times and at others its fast, harsh and rapid. they are both metaphors.
Sundara's exaggeration on the last sentence makes it feel like she will never be happy again. it would have been different if she said an hour or a day, night, ect. because then we would have felt that she would be happy soon and all will be right and happy.

"Life is like a river" means life has good times and bad times. When a river is rapid, it means life is tough or there is a lot going on. When a river is calm, it means life is good.
They are different because you can choose what path you take when you're on a road, but you can't choose a path when you're in a river.

The figurative language that was used was a hyperbole.  This exaggeration made her words more powerful because if she said she would cry for a day, or night, that would not have as major of an impact then what it did. Since the weather is all gloomy it gets you in the same mood as Sundara.

It is a metaphor and the road can  mean that you can get lost on a road or there will be a lot of twists and turns and this relates to what life can be like. River can mean that  life can be rough and bumpy like a river.

This exaggeration makes her words more powerful because it shows she really cares about Jonathon and it also sounds a lot better then night day etc because it has more meaning.
