Social media is a big part of our everyday life as is education, so is it a good idea to integrate the two?

There are many examples of different platforms being used in the class room, for example, YouTube in the classroom is not a new thing, but live broadcasts with the assistance of Google Hangouts allows the students that could not be in class, due to circumstances, be able to be present and even ask questions and more via the platform.

Teachers can invite the learners on different social media platform's and keep them up to date with content, important dates and other important notices. There will be disadvantages to using social media in the classrooms, for example, students would not be focused on the work but rather on the entertainment social media provides.

I would love to hear your opinions. Should education and social media be integrated?
