Reflection: This TED Talk is important to me because I think that even though mental health is being talked about more, people still don't feel comfortable talking about what they are going through because they feel shame. This reflects how I feel people should see mental health around the world and the strides it will take to get to that place. One quote that stuck out to me is the one at the end where the speakers says "next time you think of a mad man, think of me." I like this song because it takes a comedic approach to not liking Donald Trump and making sure that people know how they feel. I relate to song because I feel that song of the lyrics more than others. For example, one lyric is "to the boats we're all immigrants here." I identify as a democrat. For example, I think that people in the LGBTQ+ community need to have all the same rights that others have because there is just no excused for them to be treated any differently. This is important to me because I grew up in an area where my friends came from all different backgrounds with tons of different out takes on life. An example of this being that I would be exposed to new ideas and perspectives based on who I followed. One of the major topics discussed on all platforms was politics. Through this, I could do more research and began to find that I agreed with more liberal ideas and the things that they stand for while I ventured into the opposing side to see if I could balance out my personal viewpoint. The students wanted to be able to express their personal beliefs and do so through their clothing. This was challenging because they first ran into trouble with the school but eventually made it to the supreme court where a vote of 7-2 ruled in favor of the students.

Analysis: This event is significant because it shows the students taking advantage of their rights of the first amendment. Through their acts, more students around the country were inspired to speak up about issues that they cared about. Although we may have dress codes that limit what we wear,  we are able to wear clothing that expresses what we feel about certain issues and how we want them to be handled.

Reflection: I think it's incredibly important for young people to participate in political activism because it's our future that is being talked about. Tom Steyer believes that the environment is an issue that needs to be readdressed and turned around. This element is very important to me because I see the effects it's having/going to have on the earth if we as a country don't take extreme measures to heal our planet. This means that we have to reduce the carbon footprint of the nation in order to create a better, safer future. This is critical to have in a president right now because global warming is worse now than it has ever been before.

2. John Delaney focuses on many issues including universal health care. To me, this element means that all people in the country would be able to get the medical help they needed whenever they needed it. This is important because I have been a position where I have had to wait to go to the doctors or go to therapy because we did not have health insurance. Just because you wait doesn't mean that you are going to heal on your own. We need to look out for the people that cannot provide for themselves.

3. Mike Bloomberg stands for more gun control. This is an issue that I care a lot about because I feel very affected by it due to the rise of mass shootings that have happened in the past few years. By limiting the amount of guns that are out in the world, we will be able to get more of a grip on the issue. This reflects my personal beliefs because I think that we should not have to fear doing everyday tasks like going to school or the store. 

4. Julian Castro is focusing on the issue of decriminalizing border crossing. The issue of people being put in cages at the border is inhumane and cruel. This is important because families are being torn apart and children are left by themselves. Most often the children don't know what is going on and don't see a loved one for days on end. This is a critical issue right now because it is only getting worse as time goes on because our current president feels strongly about the issue. 

5. Cory Booker has a focus on expanding affordable housing. The issues of affordable housing is important because the country is growing and so housing needs to be available. This reflects the more liberal side of my viewpoints because I think that all people deserve to have a place to live no matter how much money they make. As long as they have a roof over their heads and a safe place, they will be able to get on the right path. This might appeal to the working class - lower class people because they may have had financial struggles and might have found themselves struggling with paying such high bills. 

I think my super candidate is somewhat electable. I think that a lot of big changes would be coming from this person so it might scare off voters, especially if they were impacting the upper class a lot. The people that would vote for my candidate are the young voters. These are the issues that are the most prevalent to people my age and I think they would agree that these issues are super important.
