At the beginning of the preparations for our presentation, Miss Shan gave a deadline for each person in the class to choose a character and also choose a scene that would have enough lines from the chosen character so that Miss Shan could evaluate each chosen character. At the beginning, I was preparing to audition for the character Noush or Ricky, but on the day of the audition I asked Miss Shan which character would be the best for me, and she encouraged me to audition for the character Noush and that's what I did because I really liked the character. He is calm and has the same vibe as me, so it would be very difficult for me to be able to play the character.

After a while, we add each character that we would like to play, we receive from Miss Shan which character we would actually play. Unfortunately, I didn't end up with a character that was completely different from what I planned to play. At first, I wanted a character that had a lot of lines so that I could practice my English more and more, but Miss Shan explained to me that since I wouldn't be taking this course next year, it would be better to leave these roles to the people who would be playing so that she could better evaluate each person in the room. I even predicted that.

Before our vacation, we took some time to rehearse our lines and performances better, so each person had their own time to receive a feedback from Miss Shan. She said some things that we could improve and also some lines that we could add to each character. Since we didn't have much time to rehearse in this class, we weren't able to show my scene, but it was a very good rehearsal for each person who was in the room that day because she was able to better explain how we would do our Padlet tasks.

1 Was pushing Ricky off the cliff premeditated?

It is possible. The presence of the padlock and the choice of location indicate that Marco thought ahead of time about confronting Ricky in an intense way. Even if he did not plan to push him, there was an intention for a physical or emotional confrontation.

If not, where did Marco get the padlock from?

If it wasn't premeditated, the padlock may have been an object that Marco already had for another reason — perhaps as part of the camp or something symbolic. But the simple fact that he had this object with him reinforces the idea of some level of preparation.

Did Marco want to scare Ricky, without intending to kill him?

It is quite possible. Marco may have acted on impulse, wanting only to scare Ricky to regain control of the situation or his own dignity, without being aware of the real danger of what he was doing.

Maybe Marco wants to vent, and sees Ricky as his main rival

Yes, it could be. Ricky represents an emotional threat to Marco — whether because he is more accepted, more respected, or because he witnessed something embarrassing. Standing up to Ricky is a way for Marco to try to regain his voice or his place in the group.

Does Marco want to be part of the group again?

Most likely. He seems isolated and resentful, and this extreme attitude may be a distorted way of seeking attention or proving his worth to the group. It may be a plea for acceptance disguised as aggression.

Is Ricky Marco's main obstacle?

Yes. Marco may see Ricky as someone who is preventing him from regaining his place in the group — whether because he has more leadership, more self-confidence, or because he knows something that could embarrass him.

Is Marco just trying to silence Ricky?

It’s possible. If Ricky knows something shameful, Marco may be trying to make sure it doesn’t get out—not necessarily out of malice, but out of fear and shame.

Is he testing the group to see if they’ll rescue Ricky?

This brings up an interesting psychological layer. Maybe Marco wants to see how much the group cares about Ricky, or how they would react when faced with real danger. It could be an unconscious way of seeking justice, attention, or proving something about their loyalty.

Is Marco acting out because of the humiliation of being found half-naked, which is terrible for a teenager?

Absolutely. This type of shame is extremely prominent in adolescence. Marco probably feels that his masculinity or dignity has been hurt, and he acts out as a way to try to compensate for this humiliation with power or control.

At the beginning of the play, Ricky drags Marco into his sleeping bag; is this revenge?

It could be interpreted as symbolic revenge. Even if Ricky's act was a joke or something normal within the group dynamic, Marco may have seen it as public humiliation and is now retaliating — not with the same lightness, but with pent-up anger.

👗 Chosen Role: Costume Designer

⸻

What does this person do?

The costume designer is the one who picks or creates the clothes the characters wear in the play. They think about style, colors, and what fits each character and the mood of the story. The costumes help tell the story without saying anything.

⸻

Important skills

	•	Knowing how to draw or having good ideas

	•	Understanding fashion, fabrics, and styles

	•	Being able to work with other people

	•	Having creativity and patience

	•	Solving problems fast, like if a costume rips before the show 😅

⸻

How they work with others

The costume designer talks to the director to understand their vision. They also work with the lighting designer (because lights can change how clothes look on stage) and with the actors, to make sure the costumes fit well and are comfortable.

⸻

Real-life example: Ruth E. Carter

Ruth E. Carter is a famous costume designer who did the costumes for Black Panther. She mixes African clothes with modern styles. She said:

“Costume design is storytelling through clothing.”

She even won an Oscar for her work!

⸻

In the play Kiss, Marry, Push Off Cliff

The costume designer would help show who’s who just by what they’re wearing:

	•	The one you’d kiss might wear something cute, like light pink or blue.

	•	The one you’d marry might wear something more serious, like a suit or classy clothes.

	•	The one you’d push off a cliff could have a darker or weirder look.

The costumes help the audience understand the characters right away.

⸻

My opinion

I’m a student, and I think it’s cool how clothes can change a whole character. I like creating stuff and imagining different styles. Being a costume designer seems fun, even if it’s a bit of work. I think I could do well in that role

👩‍🏫 Who Was Enid Blyton?

👩‍🏫 Who Was Enid Blyton?

Enid Blyton was a super famous British author who wrote tons of children’s books. She was born on August 11, 1897 in London and died in 1968. She wrote adventure stories, school stories, fairy tales, mysteries — basically, everything kids love to read.

⸻

📚 What Did She Write?

Some of her most famous series are:

	•	The Famous Five

	•	The Secret Seven

	•	Malory Towers

	•	The Faraway Tree

	•	Noddy (for younger kids)

She actually wrote over 600 million books, and they’ve been translated into about 90 languages! That’s wild 😱

⸻

👀 A Bit About Her Life

Before becoming a full-time writer, Enid Blyton was a teacher. She loved kids and storytelling. She had two daughters, and she used to write so much — like, dozens of books a year.

But not everything was perfect. Later on, some people said her books had racist or sexist stuff, especially the older editions. Some of her books were changed or edited because of that.

⸻

🎭 Why Does She Matter in the Play?

In the play we’re doing, there’s a reference to Enid Blyton — probably because her stories are all about adventure, friendship, and imagination. She kind of created a whole world that many kids grew up with. So even if her books are old, a lot of people still know her name.

⸻

📝 In Summary (like for real)

•	Enid Blyton = author from the UK

	•	Wrote Famous Five, Secret Seven, and more

	•	Sold over 600 million books

	•	Was loved by kids but also criticized for outdated stuff

	•	Her stories are still part of childhood for lots of people

My name is Alysha, I'm 18 years old and, to be honest, I'm still trying to figure out who I am and what I want. I recently finished high school, and everyone seems to be in such a rush to decide what to do next… college, work, life plan. But me? I just wanted a breather.

I've always liked observing things and turning ordinary moments into stories. It doesn't have to be anything too crazy — sometimes, just paying attention to people is enough material. Telling stories has become my way of connecting, of escaping a little too. Like, as I tell stories, I also understand better what I feel.

When my best friend invited me to this camp, I accepted without thinking twice. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I knew I needed to get away, to get away from everything for a while. I brought my notebook, as always, because I never know when an idea will come to me. Maybe I'm not looking for a story to tell… maybe I'm just waiting to live one worth remembering.

🎭 Importance of Practical Skills and Presentation

🎭 Importance of Practical Skills and Presentation

✅ 1. What Are “Practical Skills” in Theatre?

Practical skills are basically the tools we use in theatre to actually perform. It’s not just about memorizing lines — it’s everything that helps bring a character to life on stage.

Examples:

	•	Voice (speaking clearly, loudly, changing tone)

	•	Movement (how you walk, move, express with your body)

	•	Improvisation (when something goes wrong and you keep the scene going)

	•	Characterisation (really becoming the character, with mannerisms and all)

	•	Use of space (knowing where you are on stage, not just standing still)

⸻

✅ 2. Why Are These Skills Important?

Without these skills, the performance just doesn’t work. Like:

	•	If you don’t know how to use your voice, people won’t hear you.

	•	If you don’t move well, you look stiff or awkward.

	•	Improvisation saves the day when someone messes up (and someone always does lol).

	•	Characterisation makes the audience believe you’re actually the character.

During rehearsals, these skills help you build the scene. On stage, they make the show fun to watch and more natural.

⸻

✅ 3. Real-Life Example 🎬

A really good example is Andrew Scott in the play Vanya (yep, the hot priest from Fleabag 😅).

	•	He plays a bunch of different characters all by himself, without costume changes or anything.

	•	He changes his voice, walk, and facial expressions, and we can totally tell which character he’s being.

	•	He also uses the stage space really well, which keeps the performance interesting the whole time.

If he didn’t have strong practical skills, that play just wouldn’t work at all.

⸻

✅ 4. My Reflection 🎭

I think I’ve improved a lot in voice and use of space. I’ve learned how to speak louder without shouting, and I pay more attention to how I move on stage.

My biggest strength right now is characterisation. I like getting into the character’s head and figuring out how they talk, move, and react.

But I still want to get better at improvisation, because if someone forgets a line, I sometimes freeze. My goal is to be able to keep the scene going smoothly, even when something goes wrong

🏔️ Dyatlov Pass Incident

🏔️ Dyatlov Pass Incident - Research

Okay, so… the Dyatlov Pass Incident is a SUPER weird case that happened in 1959 in Russia, in the Ural Mountains. A group of nine experienced students went on a snow hiking trip and… never came back. When their bodies were found, it looked like something out of a horror movie. 😨

⸻

🏕️ What happened?

•	The group set up camp on a mountain called Kholat Syakhl (which literally means “Mountain of the Dead”—bad vibes already 😅).

	•	A few days later, rescue teams found their tent slashed open from the inside, like they ran out in a panic.

	•	Some of them were found barefoot, with no jackets, in the middle of the snow, in -30°C weather.

	•	A few bodies had broken bones, crushed skulls, and one of the women was missing her tongue and eyes (WHAT even 😬).

	•	Oh—and some of their clothes had traces of radiation. Like, what??

⸻

🤔 Theories (and yes, aliens are one of them)

No one really knows what happened, but here are some of the theories:

	•	Avalanche – maybe they thought one was coming and ran, but experts say the slope wasn’t steep enough.

	•	Secret military experiments – some people think they accidentally saw something they weren’t supposed to.

	•	Infrasound – a creepy wind sound that can mess with your brain and cause panic.

	•	Hypothermia + confusion – extreme cold can make you act weird, like taking off your clothes even if you’re freezing.

	•	Yeti, aliens, weird forest creatures – yep, people actually said this too lol. But there’s no proof.

⸻

🧠 So… what do we know?

Even after decades, no one has a solid answer. In 2020, the Russian government said it was an avalanche, but most people still aren’t buying it. So yeah, it’s still a total mystery.

Kiss Marry Push Off Cliff

1. Title 🎭✨

Does the title reflect the play and why?

Yes! The title Kiss Marry Push Off Cliff sounds like a game friends play, but it also represents the difficult decisions the characters have to make about relationships, feelings, and figuring out who they really are. Even though it sounds playful, the title hints that there are serious conflicts and choices behind the camping trip.

⸻

2. Characters and Performance 🎭🌟

Name: Alysha 🧑‍🎤

What does she want? (Goal) 🎯

Alysha wants to connect with her friend and enjoy the trip by having adventures and telling stories. She wants to create special memories and maybe escape a bit from everyday life.

What gets in her way? (Obstacle) 🚧

Tension between the friends, possible secrets or unresolved feelings, and the fear of ruining the friendship. Maybe her friend isn’t as excited about the trip, which makes things feel a bit awkward.

How would you act this character? (Body, voice, energy) 🎤💪

Alysha would be energetic and expressive, using lots of gestures when telling stories. Her voice would change depending on the story — dramatic, funny, or mysterious. Her body language would be lively, but in more emotional moments, she would show insecurity by becoming more reserved or hesitant.

⸻

Planning and Production Task

The scene where the friends argue or reveal something important.

What is the mood in that moment?

Tense and emotional 😬💔 — it feels like something that’s been hidden finally comes out. It’s a moment that could change the friendship.

⸻

3. Style and Staging 🎨🎭

A. Style

Is the play: Realistic with stylised elements. 🌲✨

Even though the situation (friends on a camping trip) is realistic, the way the characters express themselves — telling stories, exaggerating emotions, or imagining scenes — gives the play a more theatrical and creative tone.

Does it include monologues or talking to the audience?

Yes! There could be moments where characters speak directly to the audience or imagine exaggerated situations, which adds a creative touch.

⸻

B. Staging

Simple or detailed set?

A simple set that represents nature (trees, a tent, a campfire) 🍃🏕️, with symbolic props.

Lighting and sound:

Warm lighting for happy moments and colder or dramatic lighting for tension. Forest sounds like birds, wind, or soft music to help build the mood.

Overall mood of the play:

A mix between light and intense — it starts out fun, but becomes deeper and more emotional. 🎉➡️🌌

⸻

4. Your Thoughts 💭✍️

(put this in the Reflection tab)

What did I find interesting or surprising?

I found it surprising how something as simple as a camping trip can reveal such deep emotions. The play shows that even in friendships, there can be hidden conflicts and hard decisions. I liked how the story balances light moments with emotional ones.

⸻

5. Creative Task 🎨✨

(put this in the Visual Creation tab)

Moodboard:

Suggestions to include:

	•	Colours: Moss green, dark blue, earthy tones (to represent nature and introspection).

	•	Costumes: Casual camping clothes — hoodies, jackets, boots.

	•	Feelings: Joy, nostalgia, tension, surprise.

	•	Set ideas: A forest with stylised trees, a central campfire, backpacks.

	•	Key themes: Friendship, choice, personal growth, communication.

Today in Miss Despina's class we did the choreography around the bonfire. We spent a long time imagining how we were going to do it because everyone was sitting down so it was much more complicated to do a choreography like that, but someone in the room remembered that a while back we did a game of passing the bottle to each other and this game was the basis for our choreography, some teenagers around the bonfire and drinking and passing the bottle to each other in rhythm with the music. That's when this choreography began.

In Miss Shan's room, all the scenes were being shown and we went through the bonfire scene, which until then was simple, but Miss Shan added a few more things to this scene and in my opinion it was much better and more real. She left out the part where the teenagers were passing the bottle to each other, but she thought it would be better if right after that everyone got up and danced in a moment between friends, something more fun so that the audience could feel this moment too.

That day the rehearsals were very tiring because many were worried about the upcoming tests and the people who had more lines to memorize were even more afraid because no one wants to forget a line or misspell a word during the presentation, not to mention the embarrassment of everyone watching us, but even with this tiredness everyone was trying hard to be at the rehearsals and on that specific day we were going over the entire play or at least the most important parts. Many still hadn't memorized their lines but we were doing well in terms of acting.

In my opinion, everyone started to pay much more attention to the play and become more interested in the characters.

Today was a really productive day. Shan was happy with the group because almost everyone nailed their lines and knows exactly where to be during the scenes. He watched the whole thing from beginning to end, organizing the blocking and giving some tips to make everything more impactful. For me, it really helped to picture how the play is going to look in the end. I felt like everyone left more confident. From now on, my focus is to be completely off-script and have all my lines memorized — and I’m pretty sure the rest of the class will get there too.

They had only planned to spend a few days away from everything — just friends, tents, and the sound of the forest. But after the very first night, something fractured. One of them was cast out, exiled without clear explanation. A misplaced comment? An unforgivable act? No one speaks openly about the cause.

From that point on, the group begins to quietly unravel. What was once camaraderie turns into suspicion. Small secrets start to weigh heavily. Alliances shift, and what was once certain becomes uncertain.

Even as the scenery remains unchanged — trees, trails, open skies — something in the air feels distorted, as if logic itself has tilted slightly. The forest, once a backdrop for escape, becomes a dark mirror where each must confront who they are, who they pretend to be… and how far they’re willing to go to belong.

He is calm but in his own way he speaks more calmly and I am like that so it wouldn't be very difficult to get into the character and even less to speak in his way because of the fact that we are the same, but I ended up with another character and I honestly liked it much more because I represented my country.

🎭 Theme Research – Our Play

🎯 Objectives

	•	Understand how the play deals with sexuality and attraction.

	•	See how drugs and alcohol affect the characters and the plot.

	•	Connect these topics to real-life situations and maybe even our own experiences.

⸻

💖 Sexuality & Attraction

These themes come up when characters feel desire, get confused about who they like, or deal with insecurities. There might be romantic tension, jealousy, or that “do they like me back?” vibe.

👉 Things to think about:

	•	Is someone discovering their sexuality?

	•	Is anyone in love with the “wrong” person?

	•	How does that change how they treat each other?

⸻

🍷💊 Drugs & Alcohol

These usually show up when characters are trying to escape something, let go, or make bad choices. It often shows a more emotional, vulnerable side of them.

👉 Good questions:

	•	Who uses it? And why?

	•	What happens after? Does it make things better or worse?

	•	Does it mess up friendships or help people open up?

⸻

🤝 Friendship

When characters are young and in a different setting (like a campsite), friendships get intense. There can be bonding, drama, fights, and making up.

👉 Think about:

	•	Who are the true friends?

	•	Is there betrayal or broken trust?

	•	How do the friendships change during the story?

⸻

🏕️ Camping

Camping changes everything. No adults, no routine — people act differently. It’s a place where characters can feel free… or totally out of control.

👉 Ask yourself:

	•	Does the setting change how people behave?

	•	Is it more freedom or more chaos?

	•	What does the campsite mean to them?

⸻

🍻 Alcohol

Yep, it deserves its own section. Drinking can totally shift a scene — either into chaos or into truth. It might cause fights or make someone finally speak their mind.

👉 Pay attention to:

	•	Who drinks and when?

	•	Does alcohol make someone reveal their real feelings?

	•	Does it help or hurt their relationships?

⸻

🌍 Real-Life Connection

All of this happens offstage too.

	•	People figuring out who they are and who they like.

	•	Friendships being tested.

	•	Moments when someone drinks or uses something to escape problems.

👉 Have you seen this in movies, shows — or even real life? That can help you understand the play better.

Being able to do a play with a Brazilian character is an honor for me because we Brazilians don't have much recognition outside our country. We only gain recognition for soccer, but I know that we are more than that. In Brazil, we have talented people and we also have a very strong culture, and in Brazil we have the largest tropical forest in the world, which is the heart of the planet (the Amazon).

Not to mention that we are a very creative and hard-working people. In Brazil, we have great artists such as: Anita, Chico Buarque, Romero Britto, Pelé, Neymar, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Ayrton Senna, DJ Alok, Carmen Miranda. Here are some of the great Brazilians who have already made history in the world and are still doing so. We are very happy, creative and friendly people.

We like to party a lot and enjoy making new friends and always being together. Here I just talked a little about how beautiful Brazilian culture is and how honored I feel to be able to wear the Brazilian shirt in a performance and speak my language. Also, in the scene where I'm in, it's mentioned that I also speak Italian. For me, it's great to have also spoken my second language. Part of my father's family is Italian, so I can represent these two countries that I love.

Being able to speak Portuguese in my scene made me feel very comfortable and, in my opinion, I was able to express myself better. I'm very happy to be able to speak and represent my two nations.
