After that, when the Station Master patrolled the platform, the professor made friends with 2 mother and son: Mrs. Takasahi and Yasuo. He also did not forget to talk about Hachi by giving it many compliments. At 9 o'clock, the Professor had to say goodbye to Hachi and got on the train but Hachi insisted on running after him, though Mr. Yoshikawa tried to prevent it.

They were so shocked to learn about the Professor's death. At the same time, they worried about Hachi. He was too innocent to realize that his master has passed away. He also asked Yasuo many questions about the dog. Turned out he was a journalist. He wrote an article about Hachi named 'Hachiko Waits'. From that day on, people from all over Japan came to see Chuken Hachiko, the faithful dog. Some gave the Station Master money so that the dog would not go hungry. With extra money to care for him, they were able to build him a shelter and buy Hachiko treats from the food vendors.
