Dr. Wolfgang Ebell
A German doctor who immigrated to El Paso, Texas in 1930. He is married to a Mexican-American woman named Trinidad. Ebell owned a quiet medical practice and was the on-call doctor for the Hotel Cortez, where the Frome girls stayed. On Friday, March 25th, Ebell visited Nancy Frome to treat her illness. It is also noted that he was one of Hitler's top spies and he also owned a 1935 Ford Sedan.
Romano Trotsky
Romano Trotsky was a con-man who worked with Ebell providing surgeries. It was noted that Ebell and Trotsky hated each other. Trotsky had 30 known aliases and claimed to be a Russian aristocrat, even though he was "chronically broke". He was seen in Juarez at a nightclub with an unknown man chatting and sharing drinks with Hazel and Nancy.
Manuel Garcia and Pancho Flores
Manuel Garcia and Pancho Flores were two desperados (cattle rustlers and drug pushers) seen in the area of the crimes. They were part of the Red Sash Gang.
Adelonda
Adelonda was a German showgirl who was having a 2-year-long affair with Pop Frome. Pop decided to break it off and Adelonda did not take it well, threatening to tell his family if he did not pay her off. Two months before the Frome girls took their trip, Pop suddenly stopped making payments to Adelonda.
Jim Milam
Jim Milam was an oil delivery truck driver who happened to stumble upon the Frome girl's bodies when volunteering for a search party. He was also one of the last known people to see the mother and dauhter duo alive, stating that he saw their Packard being chased by a dark sedan.
Allie Gillespie
Allie Gillespie was a fortune teller in El Paso, Texas. On Monday, March 28th, Hazel Frome decided to have her fortune read by Gillespie. Gillespie stated that she pulled the "death card" during her tarot reading and said that she saw "enemies" and "a journey of no return" in her reading. Hazel was notabley nervous during this reading and even asked "Do I have an enemy whp would do me bodikly harm?"

As a team, we have concluded that Dr. Wolfgang Ebell committed the Diablo Highway murders. Ebell's shoe prints and tire impressions were found at the crime scenes. Under Nancy's fingernails, fibers from Wolfgang Ebell's car upholstery were found. We ultimately came to this decision as we found that Wolfgang Ebell's gun was the murder weapon of the Frome girls. Found at the scene was also Jim Milam's tire and shoe impressions, because he found the bodies. Garcia and Flores, the desperados, also had evidence that placed them at the scene, but it was unclear whether this was perimortem or antemortem. What we believe happened was that Ebell chased the girls in their Packard and ran them off the highway, tortured them, and then ended their lives with shots to the head.

At the car there was a suitcase and a letter that was on the ground next to the car, there was a set of prints on the letter belonging to the evidence tag #20 after running tests these prints belong to Hazel, the prints on the letter has a ulnar or radial loop as well as Hazel, next was the prints on the suit case evidence tag #21 belonging to Nancy who's loop was very similar to Nancys, evidence tag #24 was found on the steering wheel also belonging to Nancy, #25 was prints found on the drivers side door handle that belonged to Hazel, Lastly #29 were prints on the trunk of the car that belonged to nancy. In this aspect of the scene and the labs its not really a shock that all the prints in this scene belonged to the 2 victims since this was the car they were in so they would have to leave prints getting in and out of the car and also on their own suitcase

This case starts with a mother-and-daughter road trip. The mother Hazel and daughter Nancy Lived in Berkeley California and came from a rich family. They traveled very often on their Husbands'/Father's salaries. This trip in particular was to see the second sister of the family, Mada who lived in South Carolina. They decided to take a southern route through California, Arizona, Texas then up to South Carolina. The plan was to have six days of intense driving and only to stop at night to sleep. Due to bad weather and other conflicts, they started to get very behind schedule, and Nancy started to develop leg cramps and a head cold as she drove. They stopped on March 24th at a hotel in Phoenix Arizona before starting off again the next morning. However, during this day, the Engine of the 1938 Packard began to backfire. They made it to the Hotel Cortez in New Mexico where Nancy got her cold looked at by Dr. Wolfgang Ebell and had their car looked at. The car needed a part that would not be delivered until the next week so they decided to make the most of their time in New Mexico. They went over the border to do some shopping, visited a fortune teller, and had dinner with two men. The night before they set off again Hazel was reported given a white envelope and was agitated after reading it. They left the hotel around 11 am on Wednesday, March 30th. However, somewhere along the Highway between El Paso and Dallas Nancy and Hazel were murdered.

There were three pieces of Evidence that were Hair. We received eleven other hair samples, one from each of the suspects and victims of the crime. Evidence tag #5 was a straight brown colored hair (Pictured above). It had a continuous medulla pattern and was spinous as a cuticle scale pattern. With these discoveries, we concluded that this hair belonged to Panco Flores' Horse. This evidence was found in a bush by the bodies of Nancy and Hazel. Evidence tag #22 was curly brown hair. Its medulla pattern was fragmented, with an imbricate cuticle scale pattern. This hair belonged to Hazel Frome and was found in their luggage by the car. The last hair evidence was tag #26. This was a curly blonde strand that had a fragmented medulla pattern, with an imbricate cuticle sale pattern. We concluded that this hair belonged to Nancy Frome. It was found in the car on the driver's seat.

There were six shoe impressions in the scenes. Evidence tag #1 was not made by a human, instead, it was from a horse. We concluded that it was made by Pano Flores's horse because it had the same shape as his horse rather than Garias's horse which had a less curved horseshoe. It also had four distinct nails on each side of the horseshoe that could be easily seen in each print. These prints were found all around the crime scene of the bodies. Evidence tags #6 and #17 were shoe impressions made by Jim Milam. Jim's shoe had an area on the sole that did not imprint on the ground. This allowed us to make the connection between the shoes. These prints were also found around the bodies, but most likely were there from finding the bodies. Evidence tag #10 was found to be from Dr. Wolfgang Ebell (pictured above). The size and shape of this print matched his shoe perfectly. Again this print was found on the crime scene of the bodies. Evidence #18 belonged to Nancy Fromes. She had a smaller, narrow foot than the rest of the suspects and victims, and had high heel shoes. These prints were found around the car, leading us to know she was alive when she left the car. Lastly, Evidence #19 was unidentifiable. it was too faint to make any true connections to any of the people.

Evidence #2 (pictured above beside Panco Flores sash) was found in a bush near the bodies. It was red cotton, with a loose plain weave. With all of this information, we can conclude that it belonged to Pancho Flores Sash. Evidence tag #13 was fibers found under Nancy's fingernails. It was wool that was light blue with a Dutch weave. These could have belonged to the upholstery in Ebell's car or Trotsky's car. Evidence #27 was found in the back seat of the car. it was Ivory colored silk, with a 4-harness satin weave. This belonged to Nancy's slip.
