Samuel Holland began to map PEI. The reason he was mapping out PEI is because he had to divide the island. The government gave the plots of land to 17 friends of the British crown and they had to settle the island for exchangements for land ownerships. One landowner was Anne Saunders, she inherited two lots of land her father. Some Landowners did not check there land that much. As loyalists demand for land to continue to increase and the landlords agreed to give up 109 000 acres. The settlers in P.E.I fought the government abou land for 100 years.
