Stereo types are things associated with a certain group of people. It differs from reality as it makes people believe everyone from that group is associated with the same thing in reality not everyone is.

Stereotypes contribute to prejudice as sometimes people think that a group of people may cause harm just because people similar to them committed a negative action. If you believe in stereotypes you could end up being disliked or even hated by friends or family along with society as a whole.
