It would be great if speakers in the working groups shared transcripts of presentations before the event. I was unable to follow most of what was being said today and having the transcript would have made that easier.

I have experienced a varied use of breakout room in the Applied Theatre sessions, and I've really enjoyed them - they were used both as a 'mingling space' prior to the presentation (to parallel the same thing happening in the physical space, while speakers were setting up and arriving); and then used as a 'brainstorming space' to share first thoughts before getting into the Q&A. Really enjoyed these moments, thank you!

Huge thanks to Adelina for continuing the conversation around ECR experiences. It feels there is more TaPRA could do to think through best ways of supporting ECRs (other labels are available). In particular, we need to acknowledge that core uni departments in the discipline are engaged in producing far more people with PhDs in T, D&P research than there are jobs in the field. How do we square that? How do we reach out to and include those who don't progress to working in those same core departments? There can appear to be a disconnect where those with senior positions in core departments in the field assume a shared experience, while those in peripheral posts lack the cultural capital and networks to navigate the academic landscape with ease. The ECR offer this conference has been great, but are we thinking about research and academic careers too generically? Are there ways we can better model, champion, disseminate and support research beyond the elite university framework?

There may be some misplaced nostalgia there but it does point to a misalignment then if the remit is to engage and support and advocate for research in the disciplines at all career stages.

It's sometimes alarming when complaints reveal assumptions that other people should make things happen when the membership is who can and must produce the initiatives. It encourages international participation at a low carbon footprint and is much better in terms of accessibility. However, this does need to the timetable to be adapted. The first day, neither me nor my fellow convenor, had a lunchbreak because between taking a comfort break, walking to get food and queueing to get lunch, there was no time to eat it. This is because we needed to be back half an hour before the session started. (This also meant coffee breaks involved grabbing a coffee and bringing it back to the room). There are a couple of options here. The first is that student helpers check tech with speakers and the other is that breaks are extended. I would have appreciated having more time to see old friends/network.

Especially Thursday, I think that there needed to be a little more consideration of screen time. It was a non-stop day - full of things that I didn't want to miss, but so much time on a screen without a break is not ideal.
