If a student stays in our program with an active schedule, we will get more hours and more hours relate to more WIOA money in the long run. But with ever-changing technology and a plethora of potential barriers, we must ensure that we are reaching students in a way that suits them. While a written note might have done the trick in the past, those days are long gone and we must now tackle the challenges of engaging our learners who bring a variety of assets and obstacles. 21st century learners expect the instant, fun and globally-accessible aspects of social media in their personal life to carry over to their academic life.

Highly engaging teachers are loyal, productive and committed to reaching individuals. They tend to go above and beyond the call of duty, and have proven to provide more innovative ideas because they truly want every learner to succeed so they look for opportunities for improvement. In these uncertain times, it is vital that we continuously explore the role of communication in creating an engaged educational experience.
