A burden- something that is a bother
2.)Kipling views the people that are being imperialism are half devil and half child. He thinks that other people that aren't white are uncivilized and that white people are civilized. 
3.) Kipling seems to approve imperialism because he seems to think it will benefit nations. I do not agree with Kipling's view because imperialism isn't good because it mostly happens when another nations just takes over one that seems undeveloped.
4.) It is a extremely racist poem and was poorly written from what Teddy Roosevelt said. In other words this poem is saying that its the white man's burden to civilize those countries that are less developed. Here the author of this poem is fully supporting the actions of what the US is doing in the Philippines. The author is saying that Filipinos are half and devil and that is why he think's that is the Us duty to help Filipinos because they think they can't care of themselves. The Tailor is the president that makes one of decisions to annex countries and land. Manifest Destiny also played a big role to in why America started to continue expanding despite the warning from President of George Washington about expansion. Some things were justified but many were not like how we removed the queen of Hawaii from her own throne, or how we attacked Philippines insisting that they needed America, and if America wants land or more territories, slaughter for it.
