The founding fathers didn't want another situation like the one they just sought their independence from. They gave restrictions on what Congress could or could not do through the enumerated powers in the constitution. Now Congress is powerful as they take their implied powers and use them to create laws on anything.


    2) I think that the legislators really are in charge, and the political parties. A lot of the work that gets done is based around political beliefs, because its politics, and the parties have a lot of influence on what happens and how legislators vote.

  • I think the founding fathers intended for a limited government with the ability for it to change or adapt as time went on. An example given in the video was the air force. While the constitution said that congress has the ability to give rise to an army or military it said nothing about an air force. But as we moved forward and progressed the idea of an air force became relevant. I think that currently congress is powerful today because they taken advantage of the idea of implied powers.

  • I think the legislative branch was intended to have a powerful government, to a certain extent. I think this because the Founding Fathers intended for the government to be able to make the rules and laws that they needed to help the country. However, I do think that they still intended for every person to have their freedoms and didn't want the government to take full control but still have a say in what is happening. Now I think the government is more powerful than limited.

  • I think the founding fathers inted for a limited legislative branch, because they gave things that the government was allowed to do in the consitiution but they didn't really say much, like the US was only able to have an army and a navy, but yet now it has many different branches of the military. And I would still say that the legislative branch is limited, but it is not as limited as the founding fathers thought it would be.

  • They intended to create a government that was very powerful, as the legislative branch is able to create any laws that feel neccesary. They have a lot of implied powers like on social security, the air force and other things that could benefit the united states.

    I know that it is the Vice president who is in charge of the running of the senate, and can break a voting tie if necissary.
