As a teacher, it is important for me to support group work by explicitly teaching appropriate behavior when necessary and guiding students in establishing norms with their groups in the beginning of the school-year. I need to make sure that the task the group is working on is clear and well-structured. I also need to facilitate group work in a way that holds students accountable for maintaining the norms they have set and reviewing them when necessary. It can also help them better understand peoples frustrations or issues in events that are happening today.
