If the session is over many weeks (e.g for an hour class) you will need to fill out 1 health and safety form, an attendance slip and make notes on each session – in total 7/8 sessions will be equivalent to 1 day. So you will then write a reflective cycle for the 8 hours/1 day. This ensures that at the end when you are writing up your portfolio you will have 15 reflective cycles and 15 days logged on the system.

If you are able to see a variety of situations and have direct contact with the trainer, jockeys and any other professionals in attendance then 1-3 days would be suitable. If it is simply observing racing/jumping/dressage then I ask for the 1 day cap due to limited engagement with the people directly involved in horse care. As mentioned in the briefings, these days are linked to your portfolio and gaining a broad range of observations and looking at several areas of the industry will be invaluable to enable you to grow as a

Vet physio.

I came across a possibility to use angle measurements of limbs or add lines (e.g. is the back straight or not) to images of static assessment as an outcome measure. It can then be used to compare the posture of the animal during the first session compared to future progress. Would that be allowed as part of our SOAP notes if the owner agrees to it or is it not allowed as we should not take pictures on our placements?
