Bullying can determine your life and the lives of others around you. Approximately 30% of young people admit to bullying others in surveys. 28% of U.S. students in grades 6–12 have experienced bullying. (for more information, go to https://www.stopbullying.gov/media/facts/index.html#stats).

One thing that causes people to be a bully could be that they used to get bullied. Another thing could be that they were abused growing up. When someone bullies someone else that other person might become a bully, get anxiety because they are always thinking about what is wrong with them, or even kill themselves because they do not think they deserve to live.

Talk about what bullying is and how to stand up to it safely, tell kids bullying is unacceptable, make sure kids know how to get help, check in with kids often, listen to them, know their friends, ask about school, and understand their concerns. Special activities, interests, and hobbies can boost confidence, help kids make friends, and protect them from bullying behavior. Model how to treat others with kindness and respect. These are all great ways to prevent bullying.

Bullying has a really negative impact in our youth society. By being more aware of bullying in schools, kids and adults can prevent bullying from happening. As it says in a Teen Ink article called “Stand Up”,http://www.teenink.com/hot_topics/bullying/article/454500/Stand-Up/, “Together we can stand up to bullying and make it disappear. Poof!”
