Walter survived 5 concentration camps and 2 death marches throughout five and a half years. He married another survivor, Rose (pictured), whom he marched with as they were liberated from Dachau by the American soldiers. They lived in Germany for 4 years, and had one son, Andre, before coming to WI. Rose died of cancer, and Walter eventually remarried Arleen. Walter began sharing his story of survival, following his mother's last words to him, "You need to share our family's story and history with the world. You need to survive." Eszter was born in 1903 in Hidegkut in Hungary. She was one of 11 and had very religious Jewish parents. During the first World War her family became refugees and only three of her siblings survived. After WW1 ended she married Jeno Braun and had six children and lived in Romania. At the beginning of the second World War her children were expelled from public school and her husband's shop was forced to stay open on Shabbat. In 1944 the family was forced into a ghetto and the two oldest sons were drafted into the Hungarian army. In May of the same year Eszter and the rest of her family were sent to Auschwitz. In Auschwitz, Eszter and her youngest daughter were killed in the gas chambers.

Sandor Braun was born on July 14, 1930 in a city in Transylvania to religious Jewish parents. Sandor was one of six children and was the fourth in the line up. His family spoke Romanian, Hebrew, Yiddish, and Hungarian. When Sandor was almost four years old he was on a walk with a babysitter when he wandered away. He was found by Gypsies and found a love for their music and asked for a violin when he was returned home. For his fourth birthday he was given one and began music lessons. In May of 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz and eventually ended up in Dachau. One day an SS guard came to his barrack asking if anyone could play the violin. He played for the guard and he was pleased and was given extra ration. In April of 1945 Sandor was liberated in the concentration camp by American troops and in 1950 immigrated to the US. In the US he became a professional violinist and composer.

Miso Vogel lived in Poland. His father was a cattle dealer, and he had 5 other siblings. In 1936 Miso had his bar mitzvah and 3 years later Germany invaded, all of his fathers cattle and horses were demanded by Germany to be of use to them. In 1940 his family and him were deported. Miso was marked as prisoner #65316. Shortly after getting marked most of Miso's family were gassed, all of them except for his father. Soon his father was ill and then also sent to the gas chambers. His father's dying words were, "Try to survive and carry on the family name." Miso was deported to two other camps after that and managed to escape in April of 1945 just when the American army entered. He was finally immigrated to America in 1946.

Her sister had a husband, and Malvin married his brother, Sandor Fried. On March 19, 1944, Germans occupied Hungary. Many people were forced out of their homes and all crowded into the synagogue. Hungarian gendarmes had taken all money and Jewelry they had left remaining. Malvin and her husband were eventually transferred to Auschwitz where they were killed.

She was born on May 3rd, 1922 in Wegrow, Poland. She had three sisters, and one brother, and she grew up in a cotton factory her parents owned, as they were also extremely Jewish. After attending public school, religious school, and learning about the Hebrew Bible from 1933-39, she moved to Warsaw with her family, in which she would be put in a Ghetto about a year later in November of 1940. She would go on to spend around 5 years of her life there, as she was able to escape with her husband (Sevek) back to Wegrow, who she married when she was eighteen, and got help from peasants named Jan and Maria. They hid in bloody fingernails for so long as the two protected Lonia and Sevek, until they were eventually liberated by the Soviets in 1945, and moved to the United States three years later.

In 1923, he went to jail for trying to overthrow the government in Germany. While there, he wrote a book called Mein Kampf (my struggle/my battle in English), where he explains how he wants Germany to gain more land, and how he wants it to be a "racially pure" state with no European Jews. After he got released from prison, he tried to gain power in non illegal ways like elections, and he used propaganda to become a leading candidate for the 1932 German elections. He didn't win, but the President of Germany in January of 1933 gave him the Chancellor position, making him the head of the German government.

Even as a kid Gerd was exosposed violence form the Nazis fighting around him and treating hi family poorly because they were Jewish. In 1933 Gerd was in highschool when the Nazis came into power and many of the teachers start to make classes about racial science that eh had to learn. Later after his gradation he started his rabbinical studies at Frankfurt am. On November 9 - 10 1938 Gerd was arrested by ht eNazis for 8 days then sent to sachenhausen camp by the time he got out he was told that his brother and Mom were murdered by the nazis. He then started a Jewish school for children that were not aloud to go as Jewish kids. He then took refuge in Canada in 1939 and moved to America New York later to work in a orphanige. After the war was over he then started his studies again and got his Ph.D in human development and socail relations from New York university. He lived a long and healthy life after that maring in 1948 and having three kids.

In 1944, the family was brought to Auschwitz where Eva's parents and two sisters were gassed and the twins were kept for experiments. Josef Mengele experimented on the twins and put them through many dangerous tests that many died from. Eva and Miriam were liberated but Miriam died in 1993 (59) of cancer/kidney disease that came from the tests. Eva lived until 2019 (85) and wrote a book called the twins of Auschwitz to tell her and her twin's story.

She was told to change his mind but she refused. They reunited in 1946, deported to Siberia by the Soviets in 1950, and returned to Germany safely in 1969.
