We are all unique individuals and a “fix” or cure for one person may not be the same for another. I think caring allows us to know our families as individuals and is a gateway to trust. A relationship built on trust and caring allows for open communication. We can work with our families to provide solutions. Fixing or curing implies that something is broken and sometimes that isn’t the case. Caring allows people to be heard, which is sometimes what people want. Giving options allow others to know we care and it empowers them to make decisions.

Amy - I feel that my role requires me to do both curing and caring. I am tasked with fixing things in my job which this past year and a half has been overwhelming at times. I recognize that my focus needs to shift more from just fixing to caring about tasks. I do however care very much about my staff and my co- workers and need to remind myself what I have control over. I do have control on how I build relationships and make others feel.
