The are also designed to help the earth bring back and maintain it natural beauties.  

Some of the benefits of going off the grid are;
- Solar power is very affordable.
- Battery storage costs are coming down very quickly.
- Water is saved, some houses off the grid have a system that collects and harvests rainwater for consumption of the residents which ensures the home is well powered without the need of outside power.

Wood was the main energy for the world until the mid 1800's. Wood is still used as heat and to cook food especially in developing countries.
Hydro-power- Hydro-power is the largest renewable energy source for electricity in the USA.
Geothermic- Geothermal energy is heat within the earth. People can use this heat as steam or as hot water to heat buildings or to generate electricity.
Wind- Wind is caused by uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun. wind energy is mainly used to generate electricity, although water pumping windmills were once used throughout the United States.
Solar- The sun has produced energy for billions of years and is the ultimate source for all of the energy sources and fuels that we use today. People have used the sun's rays for thousands of years for warmth and to dry meat, fruit, and grains.
