This school ain't that hard if you just show up get the work done. The best thing to do is just to get everything done when its supposed to be done and you wont have to deal with it later. I have always struggled with loving my body. When I was in high school, I was taken to the hospital because I hadn't eaten in two days. I thought that if I was skinnier, I would feel pretty. Obviously, I was wrong.

Even though I have not completely overcome this challenge and probably never will, I have learned to love yourself for who you are!

I have learned to keep climbing, every day. It will make you stronger, more capable, and it gets better with time!

It has also shown me how important it is to treat everyone with kindness because you just never know what they are dealing with.

Sometimes when I get upset I try to ask myself if what is bothering me is going to matter in an hour, or tomorrow or in 5 years or 10 years. In a perfect world, that will help me put things into perspective and allow me to spend the appropriate amount of time on whatever is bothering me. I shouldn't spend a week being bugged about something that won't affect me long term. I try to spend more time and energy thinking about the things that matter most.

Wesley, Erik and Kadence all were a part of the fly fishing club and we went fishing at Strawberry in the pouring rain. We didn't catch any fish but they persisted and never gave up. I was surprised that they all said they wanted to go again despite the weather. They know that they can overcome adversity and challenges. They are all very respectful! They know that choices have results and that if you go fishing with Tanner you might not catch any fish :)

A couple years ago, a student brought stuff to school that they shouldn’t have. They asked a friend to hold it for them, but that friend was caught with it. The student decided to own up and confess it was them that brought the stuff instead of letting the friend take the fall for their bad decision. Being honest means understanding that your choices have results and you’re responsible for your actions.

Having someone I can talk to is really important to me when I’m going through a challenging time. It’s not healthy for me to keep all my thoughts and feelings bottled up. Sometimes it’s hard for me to open up but I turn to someone I trust who I know will listen and not just try to just fix my problem or tell me what I’m doing wrong.

You'll come to see that Summit is an accepting and comfortable place. Some kids come from big schools with many kids. I know I did. But what I found awesome was that everyone here knows your name. The teachers are able to have actual conversations with you and check up on you. Same with the other students. I really came to like Summit, and I hope you come to like it too!

kane is such a cool person. they always are helping out people around them. He helped out heidi today by building a bookshelf for her (i helped too heheheh) and he definitely commits himself to helping others. living with integrity means you have set morals and you stick with them no matter what. a good example of this is when you go to a party and people may be doing some frisky things, if you have set morals of not doing frisky things then you'd leave the party to keep your integrity

it's there and it's very comforting when you're in it
summit is like a blooming garden, there's many seeds to be planted and already planted but you've got to nurture and take care of all the seeds for them to grow. the staff are like the gardeners, they worry and they take care of us. they nurture and they love us, they watch us and they guide us. Some of us may need trellises to lean on but we're all gonna grow eventually. especially with such great gardeners

Often times in life we get caught up setting up a false character that we have to impress each other but this robs us of an opportunity to be ourselves. my coping skills are extremely important to me as i have many mental illnesses.

one of my most difficult challenges I've been through is having a unsupportive abusive parent. Although not physically abusive, spiritual and emotional abuse i would argue are just if not more harmful, they break your brain and your spirit! I've spent the last 3 years in therapy trying to recover from these experiences. I am still in therapy (2 therapys even) to try and resolve my trauma! but i am doing better than i was 3 years ago and I'm proud of it

Growing up my family didn't manage money very well. I knew my parents had a lot of debt and there wasn't a lot of money for extra things like eating out, vacations, etc. I wanted a different life as an adult, so I've tried to learn more about budgeting and managing money. At times it's been hard when it seems like all my friends are playing hard and traveling the world while my husband and I have chosen to save. BUT We're hitting some big financial goals that are pretty exciting and will change my family tree.

Whenever I go shopping with my babies, I really appreciate when people pull out a cart for me because I'm holding a kid. Or when they open the door, because again my arms are full with babies. Or when they let me go first so I can get out of the store faster. Or when people offer to put my cart away so I can buckle up my kids. There are so many kind people in the world.

My mother died when I was 4 years old. My Dad was heavily drinking and my older brother and I couldn't live with him. We had to live in Foster Homes for awhile. I understand what it's like to be bounced around when you are a young person. What I've learned is that Human Beings are super Resilient and Super Tough. What doesn't kill you Does make you stronger and you can become an amazing person, in part, born of the trials you go through. The hardships you go through will make you an empathetic and compassionate person who will understand how to help and reach out to others. <3
