The Precambrian period is the first and longest period that ever existed and it was a period that was 4 billion years long. That 4 billion years is about 90 percent of Earth's time. This period consists of the Protozoic and Archean periods. It also included the first life forms which were: bacteria, fungi, viruses, algae, jellyfish and simple worms.

The Paleozoic era is the second period of Earth and lasted 245 -544 million years. It also has 6 different periods and introduces evaluation into the picture. That evolution was of reptiles, fish, insects, and vascular plants. There were two different ice ages in this specific era. But, this era ended with a great mass extinction that was called the Permian-Triassic extinction.

This age with the dinosaurs was as long as 180 million years. The Mesozoic also included the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. But the reason it ended was because of mass extinction by a meteor putting an end to the dinosaur era.

This is the era of mammals and this era spans from 65 million years ago to now. This era has 3 periods, Paleogene, Neogene, and Quaternary periods. During the Paleogene period, a thing called continental drift happened making vast stretches in the ocean. The Neogene era is when primates and early humans were made also including Wooly mammoths, cave lions, saber tooth cats, giant deers, and the wooly rhinoceros. The most recent is the Quaternary era. In this era, there was the Pleistocene Epoch when glaciers covered parts of the earth glaciers became lakes and fjords were being carved.
