  • As a college freshman, with my whole life ahead of me, it's quite overwhelming how much is exciting for me right now. I am excited to finally live in my first apartment, I am excited to start my first “big girl” job, I am excited to continue to work within the amazing world that is live theater, and lastly, I am excited to see where my life takes me.

  • Within the Department of Theater and Dance, I have many inspirations that make me very excited to continue my career within the department. I have never been told to stop dreaming, and I don't plan on doing so anytime soon. My goals and dreams, and "What Ifs" are what motivate and excite me through it all.

  • To be honest I thought I had my whole life planned out, but after last semester and realizing that there is so much potential everywhere, I feel like my plan has changed focus. From the beginning, I saw myself one-day stage managing for a huge platform like a broadway show, but now I see myself working within the theater world, as a production or company manager. My one true passion is the art that we all love the most: theater, I just need to figure out exactly what I want to do within the art.

  • How I am going to reach this goal is the thing that aspires to me most. I am planning on working with Summer Stock Austin this summer, where my goal is to work as an assistant stage manager, but also work as a production management assistant/intern, to learn and see if that is my passion. I aspire this summer to do something that I know I love doing, while also attempting to learn more about the field that I want to spend the rest of my doing.

A very important value that underscores my work, is the ability for a room full of collaborators to have the same vision in mind. I think that when there is a project or piece of work, that has a team with different mindsets and goals the project is bound to fail. Once everyone in the room is working on putting together the same thing, with the same mindset, then you have what you need to be on the road to success.

Collaboration is quite literally the most important part of theatre, and the way we create theatre. Without seamless collaboration, the work of art that you are looking at putting together will not come together and become the art that it was meant to be. When there is good collaboration everyone that is involved in the piece will know what’s going on at all times, all have the same mindset, and all think the same way about what they are putting together. Without collaboration, the magic can’t happen!

People say “teamwork makes the dream work” and I personally could not agree more. I have seen my middle and high school theater departments go from quite literally nothing but a few kids working to put a show together, to a whole army of parents, and kids alike. Because of these additions of people, the collaboration on the projects grew and grew and made the shows more and more successful. At my middle school is where I believe it all started because of their growing department they have now won 4 straight UIL OAP competitions, all in my mind thanks to collaboration.

Everyone has always told me to never burn a bridge, and thus, I have not. I have seen real-world connections work their magic in my own life, and in other peoples. In my own personal experience, I was a part of a season of Summer Stock Austin, where I was able to assistant stage manage a show, and meet some of the best directors, and technicians in the area! Meeting these people and showing them my work ethic has gotten me jobs, and I feel like there will be more to come.

The people that you meet within the theatre world, have to be some of the best people, and for sure the most creative group of people around. This being said it is very important to never undermine, or talk bad about other people's creativity/ work because you never know if you will cross paths with them again.
