The Illinois School challenged The Family Book because it mentioned parents of the same gender. Guardians thought that it pushed a homo-sexual agenda.  According to BookBarn, guardians also believed that the topic of the book was not appropriate for elementary school students.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was banned in 1990 and 2005 in America’s United of Separation of Church and State. It was banned because it depicted graphic violence, magic, and gore. Also from the witch’s cruelness toward the children.
