Dear all, we from SkyfloX (a European Space Agency (ESA) ‘Spin-Off’ company) are developing ORCA (Optical and Radio frequency Constellation on commercial Aircraft). The ORCA concept proposes to use commercial aircraft as a platform to carry small equipment. Several such equipped aircraft form a constellation which may support several Earth Observation services (https://skyflox.eu/ ). Such data could then be used for a multitude of applications (from forest fire detection to urban monitoring or in this case marine litter detection along coastal areas, provided that the right sensors are installed). I believe there is potential here to fill the data gap and set up a monitoring service: using a constellation of aircraft as a new source of data, to complement satellite and drone data.
