         <description><![CDATA[<div>This lesson focuses on helping students improve their ability to read and count rhythms pattern containing familiar note values. Students have previously learned how to count quarter notes and rests, eighth notes, and half notes using the Kodaly system syllables. Students will work cooperatively using the Kagan structure, Flashcard Game, and participating in a cooperative learning activity, "I Have, Who Has." Students will ultimately complete a short composition using melodic instruments and notes found in the pentatonic scale to compose a melody that uses a rhythm. The rhythms that students are assigned to use in their composition will be tiered by ability level to provide an appropriate challenge for all learners.</div>]]></description>
