in the article the author talks about how plastic is a growing issue in the environment and it is bigger than Texas and is growing at a rapid pace. It also damages the food chain every thing we eat from the ocean has plastic in it to small to see with the naked eye we need a microscope. And boats leave fishing nets in the the water that soon become part of the growing disaster in the Pacific ocean. Tsunamis which are natural disasters make the patch even bigger a whole lot faster and about ever tsunami 4.5 million metric tons of trash is carried out to see. Trash is polluting our waters way too fast.

The beaches of the island are covered in plastic and it seems like everyone is wasting more than they have to. the author talks about the garbage that is floating and drifting and making its way to the GPGP or Henderson Island. While exploring the problem with the island they had to travel through what seems like an under water highway of trash made from the human waste that has found its way into the ocean. And that in the heat the garbage melts and looks like food to some wild life which is damaging our food chain. Lots of people can help by wasting less but it is justin our human nature to though it out when we are done. many people have tryed to get the mesage across about using less and so far only a couple people have listened .
