Physical Development The most important topic for me in Chapter 9 would be physical development. I think it's overall important to know everything there is to know about physical development, as that's what makes us who we are from the time we are born to the day we die. Development psychology, p. 274. "The study of age-related behavior and mental processes from conception to death". It is so important for a child in its early stages to experience, learn, grow, and be nurtured in order to develop properly in the future, which is called the critical period. It's ideal to keep this in mind, as these early stages of a child's life are so imprecise and can have a major impact on their overall life as a whole. Creating normal cognitive, mental, and social development are all chronic periods in human development in the early years. These milestones help parents and caregivers make sure that the child is progressing normally in its early stages. Physical development can have significant effects; it cannot have an impact on professionalism and personal life during adulthood; it can affect job performance and overall lifestyle choices.

My score was 55/60. I am achievement-motivated, and I sometimes will desire to excel, especially in competition with others, particularly with my brother. Pg365 (Achievement Motivation): I feel like I have the skills and abilities to fulfill and succeed in the goals I set for myself. I like to dream big, but I also like to make a plan for a big dream. I ask myself, How am I going to get there? What willl I need? What resources will I needI set goals for myself that are small but eventually will get me to my bigger goals over time, one step at a time. I plan my goals out, and I am without a doubt sure I can achieve them. I know to set small goals and not too big goals, not to lower my standards, but to know that if I strive for impossible goals (p. 364), achievement motivations can lead to dangerous pessimism, depression, and drug abuse. Extricially and intrinsically, I would say I am in between these, as when I work, I do it for the money, but I also like to push myself physically and mentally, to gain communication skills, build more character in myself, be more comfortable working and supporting others, but also to make sure I finish my work and do the best I can, not fully for the money but for myself. If I knew I did a bad job and was just feeling lazy, I would feel like I was cheating myself because I don't think I can do it the right way because I feel tired and avoid trying to make excuses for myself.

My score on the confidence quiz was 65/70. I am pretty self-confident, which is similar to the concept of self-efficacy, which is very similar to our everyday notion of self-confidence. Self-efficacy is another term for a person’s learned expectation of success in a given situation. I believe that I can succeed and reach my goals regardless of my past failures and current obstacles. For example, this semester I am taking statistics. I've always been bad at math; it was one thing I struggled with the most through high school. And my first time taking any math course during college made me a little worried, but I knew I could do it because of my past in high school doing badly in math. That didn't stop me or make me feel like I couldn't do it. I knew if I put in the work and time, I would succeed, and soon enough, I passed statistics for this semester with 84%. I believe anyone can do whatever they put their mind to; you just have to put in the time and effort to reach your goals.

I feel like understanding psychological disorders and what they are. It is very important because society looks at people with disorders as unnormal or incapable, which is not true and very wrong. A lot of times, TV, social media, etc. like to make a lot of disorders sound dangerous or scary, which creates a bad reputation for people with these disorders that are just falsely made up in the form that is exaggerated. distress. Distress is a behavior, thoughts, or emotion that leads to significant personal distress. ANiextry disorder problems characterized by disabling, uncontrollable, and disruptive fear or "anxiety/"individual unrealistic and uncontrollable fear of spiders might be distressing to that person but not others. Someone with an antisocial personality disorder will hurt others while experiencing little or no personal distress or remorse. pg421 table 13.1. People should really be aware and treat people with respect because it's not right to mean someone because you don't know if they have a disorder or not, and sometimes it may not really be shown. Figure 13.1, p. 421 This is a normal curve and general mental health with a thin graph. The middle is characterized by the average person with no mental illness, but the left has some psychological disorders that might fall to the far left of the curve, while others who have exceptional mental health might fall to the right. It shows that people could have a small emotional disorder where it is not as severe. But that doesn't change the fact that they should be treated with any different number of myths and misconceptions about mental illness, like ike i said, which have been spread quickly. Mental illness is a serious thing and should be taken seriously, as it is a battle for people every day. But just remember to try to be the best person you can and be nice because you never know what a little thank you or holding the door could have a positive impact on someone. With a disorder or not, just don't be mean to someone because you honestly never know what people are going through, and that's something I always stand by.

Positive psychology, the study of optimal human functions, emphasizes positive emotions and traits. It is important because I feel like it's important because it's essential for everyone to focus on the good stuff in life. Focusing on the negative is not good for you or your health. Focus more on the things that make people happy and mentally strong. Instead of focusing on the bad things and making yourself feel bad and stressed out, positive psychology

Another topic I believe to be very interesting and useful is mental health. Knowing the benefits of practices and meditation in improving your overall mental health is very important information to know. Pg. 420, Table 13.5 Culture General symptoms of mental health difficulties consist of being nervous, weak all over, feeling anxious, and worrying all the time. This is one of the leads to death by suicide and is from depression. It's really important to notice and deal with these signs because it helps build a positive and strong mindset. This is key to a healthier and happier life.

I had a great time this semester, and I feel like I've gained a much broader understanding of psychology. I really enjoyed and had a fun time creating videos, and the other two creative assignments that we had to illustrate the assignment with decorative gifs made learning the material more enjoyable while also working on the assignments, which I liked very much. What I disliked was some of the due dates. I would rather have more assignments, and the due date would be Sunday at midnight, as it was a struggle to maintain everything with my schedule as I worked Thursday to Saturday in 12-hour shifts, so it made it a little challenging to manage my time, but besides that, I enjoyed you and taking this course.
