When the people of Portugal came in and introduce Christianity, Japan was perfectly fine with it and welcome the religion. In 1597 it was banned due to having a part in politics it also had "intolerable behavior" towards the Shinto and Buddhism religion. To make this rule final the Emperor executed 26 Christians.
