<title>Citizens who are selected for jury duty, a computer randomly selects potential jurors to make sure that they have adequate candidates for fair and impartial jury. For jury duty exemption you must be in active duty, must be 70+, must be mentally or physically disabled, and you must be a full time care giver of a child 6 years or older. For everyone else you cannot be exempt from jury duty. Although you cannot avoid, you can reschedule if the given time isn’t compatible enough for you. You must also have a valid reason.	If you skip jury duty, you will be fined and will be facing other consequences. Jury duty is not optional and is a personal responsibility under the law. The only obligation you have for jury duty is one day or one trial. Trials can go on for a week more depending on how big the case is. If you are on trial, the summons will notify you each night to tell you whether you are needed or not starting on a Sunday night. To check to see if you are needed you must call 700.822.7170 or for a recorded announcement you go online to ejury.gwinnettcounty.com/ejuror.</title>
