A disadvantages of having competition from commercial radio shows are:

Adverts could be over whelming and could lead the audience to tune out of the radio.

The BBC have to stick to their PBS so it could be argued that it limits what types of music it can broadcast. Therefore, other commercial radio stations could pose as an easy opposition.

Won’t target to a wide audience such as the young generation so they are limited to the listeners they could have (many young litres now use apps and other streaming drives to listen to music such as Spotify.)
