Everything Everything mostly takes place in Maddy's white house located in modern day California. This is shown when Maddy says "In my white room, against my white walls, on my glistening white book shelves..." Also when she says " I am not prepared for the bright California sun." This is very important to the conflict because if she was not locked in her room her whole life, she would not have the desire she did to break out.

The antagonist is Madeline's mother, Paula. Although she does not mean to, Paula creates the main conflict for Maddy. She lies to Maddy and makes her believe she has an illness that causes her to stay inside her sterilized home. Paula wanted to keep her safe, but ended up ruining their mother-daughter relationship. "And that's when I know for sure. I am not sick and I never have been.

I believe the theme in this book is that love impacts every decision you make. This is shown when Madeline goes to Hawaii with Olly and again when Paula fakes her illness. Both of these characters were willing to risk everything for love. Maddy could have died by going outside, yet chose to do it for Olly. Also her mother cared so much about her and safety that she was willing to keep her locked up her entire life.

Everything Everything is written in the first person point of view. Madeline is telling the story from her perspective, describing how she feels and thinks throughout the book. The first person point of view is shown when she says "My disease is as rare as it is famous." It is also shown when Maddy says "At first, I'm not sure what I'm looking at."

The book Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon is a spectacular read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, drama and realistic fiction. Nicola Yoon really keeps you on the edge of your seat by throwing a curveball in when you least expect it. I thought it was neat how the author added pictures and texts to the book. It made it feel like the book went faster and I could better understand things in the text. I also think the Nicola did a wonderful job writing the book because at some points I could actually feel what she was going through. Over time It was clear that Madeline was maturing during her relationship with Olly. Nicola Yoon did a fantastic job of showing the progression of change through their relationship, which made it feel more realistic. The ending of the book was by far the most unexpected thing I could imagine. I loved how different it was although I wish we could have known if her relationship with her mother was every fixed.

Maddy Whitter is the only character in Everything Everything that truly shows leadership. She shows this by leading Olly, her mother and Carla to all different things. She also led her life in a different direction then it was going in. For example she led Olly to go with her to Hawaii. Although there was a very high chance of her dying, she took control of the situation and also convinced Olly to follow her there. Maddy was a leader in several ways throughout the book.
