Mr. Spencer is being completely honest with Holden because he wants him to know that he isn't flunking him for any other reason besides the fact that he doesn't know anything about the class that he taught. Mr. Spencer also read the essay that Holden had written to show how much Holden actually knew about the Ancient Egyptians and I think this shows that Mr. Spencer really wants Holden to succeed in life and to understand why he has failed History. 
3. Mr. Spencer reveals that Holden is actually willing to listen to authority and he is a smart kid he just needs to apply himself to his school work and use himself in a positive way.

2. Stradlater is Holden's roommate, he isn't too fond of Stradlater though. Stradlater is popular and normally gets whatever he wants. Like when he asks to borrow Holden's jacket even though he doesn't want to let him borrow it Holden ends up letting him borrow it for a date. I think that this quote shows that Stradlater is used to getting what he wants and he normally doesn't have to put up a fight, but he will if he needs to.
3. Stradlater reveals that Holden is actually a nice kid. Holden ends up letting Stradlater borrow his jacket for the date so I think that Stradlater brings out the submissive side in Holden. 2. Allie isn't the speaker of this quote because this quote is actually Holden describing his brother before his death. Holden remembers having fond memories of his brother like how nice and funny he was. Allie was a nice younger brother to Holden and he enjoyed life until it was brought to an end by cancer.
3. Allie reveals the good parts about Holden. But only when he was alive, once his brother died he went crazy and broke all of the windows because of the frustration he felt. 2. Phoebe is Holden's sister. He speaks very highly about his sisters saying that she is really smart and knows what she is talking about when she speaks. He gives an example that shows that she has good taste, she knows when a movie is good or when it wasn't so good. And she is only ten-years-old.
3. Phoebe understands Holden even though there is a six year age gap between them. 3. Sunny reveals the innocence and youth in Holden. Holden agrees to have Sunny come to his room but because he hasn't ever done anything with a woman before he can't bring himself to do anything. 2. This quote is from Holden thoughts about Sally. He remember that he thought she was a really smart and nice person. It took him a while to realize that she actually was not all that smart. Sally was a nice girl but was able to hide her levels of intelligence from Holden for years while they were dating.
3. I think that Sally reveals that Holden is good at being able to tell what kind of person someone is. It took Holden a long time to realize that he actually doesn't like Sally because he was dating her for a while.
