I believe repetition is valued across music as an important musical element because it naturally appeals to us as humans. After reading Ratliff's first chapter, 'Repetition', I can see how we tend to be attracted to patterns such as repetition and how it's evident in our everyday lives. Repetitive rituals such as brushing ones teeth, having a cup of coffee, or listening to music cause the same type of satisfaction when one hears that steady, head-bobbing, bass kick. The predictability of these patterns makes it appeal to us, it is comfortable and controlled. In Post Malone's newest single titled "rockstar", producer Tank God uses a variety of bass kicks, snares, and hi-hats to lay down a catchy 8 second foundation beat, that basically repeats for the whole song. This song is a good example of how repetition helps a song flow.

This is an image of a popular music making software known as FL Studio. At first glance, it gives us an interesting opportunity to visual music. Many examples of repetition can be found on these screens; from the sliders, to the note blocks.
