This is amazing how this showed a higher percentage than just challenges with technology. I feel this is a big issues. Worksheets are commonly used in classrooms, because it has been easy to teach a lesson, have a worksheet for the students to complete to show their knowledge, and then they stack up for you to check/grade/throw away. Save trees and make worksheets more interactive by using Wizer. I had never seen this before and this is awesome! You can actually create a class and assign worksheets to them to complete for free. There is a large library of pre-made items. They are engaging and fun to use, more than just pencil and paper. This also allows you to diminish all the stacks of paperwork you have to go through and check. We can use all these wonderful resources that we have shared about and make learning fun again. I think how education is right now, students are not retaining information long-term, instead they store it for a tests and that's the end. We need to push these students to use those high order thinking skills. This has been spoke about for years in education, but has it actually been carried out? I do see how these new technologies as mentioned in the articles would benefit students with special needs or ESOL students. This might be an area that this can be tried in first with education. I think the more we see VR/AR come into classrooms, the more new technologies will start coming into play. Including adaptive learning within our teaching will become used more I feel in the next years to make learning more personalized for students. This will help with the differentiation that teachers need to carry out, but don't have time to plan. Hopefully with with more schools using adaptive learning technologies, they will also become more cost-efficient. Being able to acquire information is going to be easier I feel. As we already see, we can ask Alexa, Siri, or Google now a question and get a reply. In 5-10 years, I see this being improved to give more specific answers and used more in schools. As mentioned in Hurdles and Horizon, new technology can help organize data, which in turn can help teachers reach their students better if they understand the data. I think they make a great point about keeping the use of technology and teacher facilitation as a balance. Technology should not replace a teacher, which I don't think it will anytime soon. There will be more virtual/online learning available that may be computer-based versus a teacher. But just from the experience of online learning this year, I don't feel that schools want to go that route. Many schools are trying to bring all students back 100% in-person next school-term. Allowing these new technologies to be a way to improve instruction and maybe allowing teachers to be more of a moderator/observer than 100% lecturer could be an improvement for schools. The downfall is the cost and how some of the technology programs are not fun or engaging.
