‎While watching, we felt excited and curious about what would happen next. Some scenes were funny, and boring while others were touching, especially when Juan showed courage and determination. It made us realize the importance of believing in ourselves and not giving up even when facing difficult situations. Although the movie was simple it still showed the importance of not being inflected in laziness.

Some parts of the movie could be improved, especially the editing. Some scene are boring but we still enjoy the movie.The movie shows a clear message that viewers can remember. The plot of the movie “Juan Balucas at Ang Bayabas” was somewhat disappointing to watch, as we had expected it to be worth watching before the movie even started, given that it was an event organized by DepEd. As the movie started, the exposition didn't quite intrigue us as much as we had expected, but as it progressed, we were able to grasp what it was about and appreciate its morals. Considering it was released in 2018 (which we didn't know beforehand), maybe it would've hit differently back then. At the end, we were able to learn lessons and understand the purpose of watching the movie which made up for the slow start.

The moral of “Juan Balucas and the Guava” shows that being stubborn and not listening to advice can lead to bad consequences. Juan’s actions teach us that when a person acts out of pride, impatience, or without thinking first, problems are more likely to happen. ‎What we had learn and experience of "Juan Balucas at Bayabas" presents a strong reflection of poverty and injustice experienced by many ordinary Filipinos. Through the character of Juan Balucas, the film shows how a simple person can be pushed to the edge because of hunger, oppression, and lack of opportunities. His life situation reflects the reality of people who struggle daily just to survive, yet are often misunderstood and mistreated by society. The movie made me realize how harsh life can be for those who have no power or voice.

In this Story, we saw how Juan and the other character's challenges just to get the ibong adarna to cure his father, and by this, we should help with the people who are important to us. It was just a 1hour + movie but the lesson and reflection we can get was beyond that, it shows so many things that we can use in our daily lives.

Helping each other is also a lesson in this story, without the help of Noni and other, Juan can't find the ibong adarna easily. In this part, as a friends, we should help and courage each other to continue our journey, even there's circumstances waiting for us to face. Friendships, memories, joyfulness, hard time, there's so many things we shared together and forever.

Juan Balucas is like a person who only thinks about what he wants without thinking carefully and in the end he suffers because of it. Reading this made me think about how often we do things without thinking about what might happen next.

While reading I could see a little bit of real life in Juan Balucas. Many people are like him sometimes they act quickly want what they want or refuse to listen even if they know the right thing to do. The bayabas in the story is like a temptation, something that looks good but can cause problems if we are not careful. It reminded me that not everything we want should be taken right away especially if it might hurt ourselves or others.

From what we experience watching the movie Juan Balucas, It was shown that he lives a simple life and often shows laziness and poor judgment. His actions lead him into trouble. While the movie for us was a bit boring and pretty low-budget and often times got lost just due to how slow-paced it was, we still enjoyed the theme and the story given to us, considering this movie came out a while ago, and the lessons learned from that movie will help us today and in the long run.

When Juan Baluca encounters a guava tree. His impatience pushes him to act without thinking. This choice creates problems instead of solving them. That gave us a realization that not everything is needed to be solved immediately. When we saw his actions when watching the movie, we we're able to tell what his wrongdoings was, and all the reckless decisions he made. Even with all of the recklessness, persistence and motivation was what led him to achieving his wish.

The story teaches a clear lesson. Careless decisions bring negative results. The tale reminds you to think before 
acting and value effort and wisdom, and it also tells us that we can get everything through hard work and patience not recklessness and ignorance. Even with the movie being pretty old, it still shows us its messages and what it .

MY REFLECTION

We watched the fantasy story of Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas at the Hoopsdome on February 7, and it was late afternoon. The show started at 3 p.m. and ended at 5 p.m. It was great to experience that, and some of the main characters were also at the venue, where we met and they asked questions about the story we watched. Let me tell you what the story was all about and what I learned from it.

The story was about Juan Balucas Jr., the son of Juan Balucas Sr. and Maria. Their life was simple, just like any other family. Juan Balucas Jr. was a boy who did bad things to his classmates, and his parents knew and scolded him. His dad was known for being lazy and always waking up late, especially when tired. Then, there was an old man who told them a story about Juan Tamad, and after that, Juan Balucas Jr. asked his father about the story if it was true, but his father was already asleep.

There was a time when Juan Balucas Jr. was walking in the woods and urinated, and he suddenly got a dwarf wet, which made him angry, and the dwarf took his cap. After that, Juan Balucas Jr. went back to his father and was shocked when he saw his father lying down on a tree and had turned to stone. Juan Balucas Jr. cried while holding his father and saw an old man named Apo, whom he accused of his father's situation. The old man said that he didn't do it and wanted Juan to believe him because he was telling the truth.

While Juan Balucas Jr. was in the woods, a fairy queen saw him and asked his name. Juan Balucas asked for help to cure his father, and the fairy told him that she could help cure his father. Juan Balucas Jr. smiled and hugged her. The fairy brought him to her place and asked what his wish was. Juan replied that he wanted to bring his father back and cure him from being stone. The fairy said that if he could bring her three things, his father would be cured, and Juan Balucas Jr. did it successfully and brought the three things that the fairy asked.

Before that conversation between Juan Balucas Jr. and the fairy, when the fairy knew his name, she thought that maybe Juan Balucas Jr. was the one in the prophecy. In order to save his father, Juan Balucas needed to choose between himself or his father. If he chose himself, his father would not be cured and would remain stone, and if he chose his father, he needed to stay at the place where the fairy brought him, and it was a lifetime. Juan Balucas had already made a decision to save his father from being stone.

Then, one day, when he was so hungry, he remembered that Lolo Apo told him to get his own food when he was hungry and not to depend on anyone. Then, he saw a tree with a guava in it, and he trusted and believed in himself and climbed the tree and got the guava fruit. After that, he saw his father, and he hugged him. The fairy, dwarf, and Pag-asa saw them and realized that Juan Balucas Jr. proved himself that he was not the one in the prophecy, that he was not like his dad, who was lazy, and that's where the story ends.

The story of Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas teaches us a lesson that we can change something by choosing to be a good person. It also leaves an inspiring lesson that selflessness is one of the things you can show to the person you love, and that's when you call it true love. No matter what happens, we should be grateful for the things we have and always do good things to the environment, to the people in our lives, and that's one of the best cures for a better and happy life.

Watching “Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas” with other students was a very fun experience, especially when we light up our flashlights and cheer for Juan balucas, we also made friends with some students from bangkal highschool and shared laughs until the film ended. We were also shocked to see that an actor was present. The actor of apo, Ronaldo Inocencio was there which made the whole experience even better.

The film felt magical because of the mythical creatures and Juan’s quest to help his father. We appreciated how Filipino folklore was included, making the story feel familiar and connected to our culture. As we watched, we felt excited and curious, and we liked how some scenes were funny while others were emotional and showed Juan’s strength.

The movie was easy to understand and the characters were simple but likable. Although a few parts felt slow and some scenes could have been edited better, we still had a good time watching it. For me, this means avoiding temptations like copying homework or cheating on tests. These quick fixes may seem appealing, but they don’t help me develop the skills I need for my future. Like Juan, I want to work hard, be patient, and know that the fruits of my efforts will be sweet and lasting.

"The apple does not fall far from the tree" isa famous quote that is challenged in the 2018 movie Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas. The story is centered on the legacy of a grown-up Juan Tamad and how his laziness might be passed down to his offspring Juan Balucas Jr. In spite of his initial laziness, Juan Balucas Jr. was able to overcome it using the lessons that he learned along his journey. This proves that change is possible when one's mind allows it.

As the movie ended, I realized that being lazy is an option, and it really depends on a person whether she/he wants it done. As it continues, it becomes a habit that no one can resist. This movie centers on a young boy’s determination to rescue his father from being turned into a stone. This proves that hard work and love can overcome laziness, as this motivates a person to do something they didn’t expect. To Juan Balucas who saved his father’s life from being turned into a stone, totally melts everyone's heart. Despite its poor quality, it was surprisingly entertaining. This serves as an awakening for every student who has watched “ Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas”, as it says that in life, nothing comes easy, and one must strive and work hard to achieve their goals, rather than waiting for things to happen on their own.

Therefore, being lazy is a choice. I've come to realize that inaction is usually not caused by one's lack of ability but by a decision to delay errands and responsibilities. Once this is understood, we gain control of our behavior and allow us to replace excuses with effort and discipline. What stood out to us the most was the lesson about responsibility and contentment. The magical bayabas gave Juan opportunities, but it also caused problems when not used wisely. When the father of Juan Balucas Sr. killed the sheep to satisfy his pregnant wife’s cravings, he may have done it out of love and concern. However, what he did was still wrong because he took something that belonged to someone else. Because of this, Apo cursed the unborn child. Instead of growing up hardworking and responsible, the child would become the opposite, lazy and unmotivated.

As the story continues, we see that the son of Juan Balucas seems to repeat the same behavior as Juan Balucas Sr., as if it were a déjà vu. They share the same lazy attitude. In the scene with the guava, he simply waits for the fruit to fall from the tree instead of climbing up to get it because he says it is too tiring. He refuses to make an effort. Just like his father, he wakes up late in the afternoon and only gets up to eat, without doing any work or taking responsibility. It becomes clear that the laziness has been passed down, and the same cycle continues in their family.

The bayabas (guava) in the story is also symbolic. It represents opportunity, blessing, and the simple gifts of life. However, blessings are only useful if a person knows how to value and work for them. If someone is lazy, even good opportunities can be wasted. The bayabas reminds us that success is not just given; it requires effort and discipline.

Overall, the story reminds us that discipline and caution are important in our daily lives. These lessons can help us become better individuals and avoid mistakes that may bring harm to ourselves and others.

Juan’s character shows how sometimes people become too curious and not content with what they already have. Instead of being thankful, he wanted more, and that led to problems. It made me reflect on how in real life, we sometimes act the same way. We compare ourselves to others and think that we need more to be happy. But the movie shows that this kind of thinking can cause regret.

What I liked about the film is that even though it is simple and funny, the message is clear. It teaches us to be honest, contented, and careful with our choices. Small decisions can have big consequences.
