Sharecropper is a new thing that happened post civil war and was an opportunity for slaves to have a source of money and a job. The government promised 40 acres and a mule to the families of sharecropping. 

• Sharecropping wasn’t temporary and lasted many decades
• Sharecropping, which was meant for post slaves, had 2/3s of the people being white while the other 1/3 African Americans
• Sharecroppers had to share the land from white land owners who they had to share the profits with (Heslip and Tanner).

Sharecropping was unfair towards many African Americans due to white landowners hoarding the profits of black workers. African Americans who challenged the system of domination faced threats, violence, and even murder. A lot of the African Americans didn’t have a lot of other places of work due to segregation (Heslip and Tanner).

The Jim Crow Laws was basically segregation which consisted of

• Being mostly in the southern states
• It lasted from 1877-1950s
• Jim Crow was a derogatory term for African Americans
• White and black people we’re separated in schools and public transportation 
• White and black people were even separated in restaurants, parks, and theaters
• Once there Jim Crow Laws were removed it caused an outbreak of racism across the south

• The KKK was a group of people all across the south they were made up of people in the communities
• The KKK were a hate group against African Americans and would harass, threaten, murder people of color
• In 1870 many Republican state governments in the south wanted to stop the KKK
• To help stop the KKK the United States government had to step in and create 3 enforcement acts
• One act that was the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871
• The effort put to stop the KKK wasn’t effective enough and the KKK lasted but were less violent 
• In 2016 people are still saying the KKK members are still around (“Ku Klux Klan: Orgin, Members & Facts”)
