What did I feel after the first Usrah session?

Firstly, I feel grateful because I have learned something new and gained more knowledge. The session was very enjoyable and engaging.

Secondly, the members of the Usrah were very kind, and I had the opportunity to meet many new people that day. The content of the session was easy to understand and remember.

Notes:

1. The first and most important etiquette in seeking knowledge is having a sincere intention. Every Muslim should align their intentions for the sake of Allah. By doing so, we will receive His blessings and pleasure.

2. Secondly, every Muslim must be diligent in the process of acquiring knowledge. We should not be careless, as knowledge is very valuable.

3. Third, as Muslims, we must respect our teachers or anyone who teaches us, even if it is just a little knowledge. For example, we should be mindful of our speech and behavior in front of them.

4. Moreover, students of knowledge must have patience in their journey of learning. Since the process of seeking knowledge never ends, we must progress from one level to another.

5. Furthermore, students of knowledge should practice what they learn, as it helps in retaining information without forgetting important details.

6. Lastly, we must remain humble while learning. The more we learn, the more we realize how much we do not know.

Initially, the verse caused concern among the Companions, but Allah clarified that only actions stemming from thoughts are judged.

The second verse emphasizes the faith and submission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers, affirming belief in Allah’s books and messengers while seeking His forgiveness.

The final verse reassures believers that Allah does not burden anyone beyond their capacity. It stresses that people are accountable for intentional actions, not unintentional mistakes. It also includes a supplication asking for mercy, forgiveness, and protection from unbearable trials, affirming reliance on Allah as the ultimate protector.

Hadith Jibril The Pillars of Islam

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; to establish prayer; to give zakah (charity); to fast in Ramadan; and to perform Hajj to the House (Kaaba) if you are able to do so.

Notes on the Pillars of Islam

The five pillars of Islam serve as the foundation of a Muslim faith and daily life. They include:

1. Shahada (Declaration of Faith) Affirming that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.

2. Salah (Daily Prayers) Performing the five daily prayers, fostering a direct connection with Allah.

3. Zakah (Obligatory Charity) Purifying one’s wealth by giving to those in need.

4. Sawm (Fasting in Ramadan) Encouraging self-discipline, gratitude, and spiritual reflection.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) A once-in-a-lifetime duty for those who are physically and financially able.

Together, these pillars guide a Muslim’s devotion, moral conduct, and relationship with Allah.

The Final Three Pillars of Iman

4. Belief in the Day of Judgment

Muslims believe that the world is temporary and will eventually come to an end. On the Day of Judgment, every individual will be held accountable for their actions. Allah S.W.T. will judge each person based on their deeds, determining whether they will be rewarded with Jannah (Paradise) or punished in Jahannam (Hell). This belief encourages Muslims to lead a righteous life, perform good deeds, and refrain from sin.

5. Belief in Qadar (Divine Decree)

Qadar refers to the belief that everything happens according to Allah’s will and knowledge. He is fully aware of the past, present, and future. While humans have free will to make choices, nothing occurs without Allah’s permission. This belief instills trust in Allah’s plan, encouraging patience and resilience during hardships.

6. Belief in the Afterlife

Death is not the end; rather, it marks the beginning of the Akhirah (afterlife). Muslims believe that after death, souls enter Barzakh (an intermediate state) until the Day of Judgment. On that day, everyone will be resurrected, and their deeds will be weighed. Those who obeyed Allah will be rewarded with eternal bliss in Jannah, while those who disobeyed will face punishment in Jahannam. This belief serves as a reminder for Muslims to always strive for righteousness and seek Allah’s forgiveness.

Humans are inherently weak, dependent, and in need, yet they are connected to the universe and possess great ambitions. Ihsan represents the highest level of faith, where one worships Allah with the awareness of His constant presence, as if they see Him. It builds upon Islam and Iman, emphasizing that there can be no Iman without Islam and no Ihsan without Iman. To attain true excellence as an Insan (a person of virtue), one must have a firm and sincere faith (Ikhlas), follow the Sunnah, and remain steadfast in performing Solat.

Reasons of Hikmah in Ibadah

Worshipping Goals:

Ibadah serves as a means to connect with Allāh (God). The purpose for all acts of worship is to strengthen the link to the Creator. It is not simply about rituals. rather, it is about knowing that these rituals are meant to assist you in coming closer to Allah.

Evolving Spiritually:

Worships like Salah (prayer), Sawm (fasting), Zakah (charity), and Hajj (pilgrimage) encourage purification of the soul and encourage the individual to act righteously. The hikmah emerges from the humility, gratitude, patience, and self-discipline that these acts instill in our hearts. As an example, the practice of fasting can help bring about sympathy in our hearts for the poor, and teaches us to be more grateful for what Allah SWT's granted to us.

Heart Purification:

The reason behind worship should be that of purifying one’s heart. Acts of Ibadah help us learn ways of refraining from worldly pursuits not beneficial to our journey to become better Muslims. Worldy desires are only mere distractions, where instead only contentment and peace can only be obtained through the submission to Allah's will.

Deliberate & Thoughtful Worship:

Worship is best done when deliberate, thoughtful, and intentional. Actual worship is not simply for the sake of formality. Each act, such as praying and give out charity, should prompt and encourage reflection. Thus, it could lead us Muslims to grow and prosper as better people.

When our focus is heightened during salah with khusyuk, our minds are instilled with proper intentions of salah which is for the mercy of Allah SWT.

Khusyuk during salah also brings blessings to our lives now and for the Hereafter. With khusyuk, we better understand as Muslims the prayers we recite and the benefits we get from doing so is plenty. That leads to a prayer that is riddled with disbelief, and the person conducting the prayer then is a Kafir even after reciting praises to Allah SWT in their salah.
